In just 5 minutes, you can make your own keto fajita seasoning. This is a mild and flavorful spice mixture with just a touch of heat and a touch of sweet. You can also make a large batch of this seasoning, so you’ll always have some on hand when you need it!
Let’s talk about our seasoning mixture!
Our fajita seasoning combines some simple ingredients, most of which you likely have in your pantry! But the outcome is a tasty seasoning mix that can be used in any number of dishes. We combine chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, keto granulated sugar, paprika, onion powder, dried oregano, salt, ground cayenne, and pepper to make our mix. One of the great things about making your own spice mixes is that you can avoid unwanted ingredients often added to packaged mixes. Another awesome thing is that you can make the mix your own. For this fajita seasoning, you can add the exact amount of sugar you’d like, and you can change the amount of salt you add. If you’d prefer more heat, you can add more cayenne pepper. You could even use smoked paprika if you’d like a smoky fajita seasoning.
How can I make a large batch of this keto fajita seasoning?
This recipe makes 3 tablespoons of seasoning mix. When making fajitas, you’ll want to use 1-1½ tablespoons of seasoning mix for each pound of meat you’re using. If you’d like, you can double or triple this recipe. I like to store my extra seasoning in an airtight container in my pantry. I’ve also calculated the amounts if you’d like to make a big batch of this seasoning mix. This big batch makes 2¼ cups. To make this you’ll combine the following:
¾ cup chili powder
¼ cup cumin, garlic powder, keto granulated sugar, and paprika
2 tablespoons onion powder, oregano, and salt
1 tablespoon cayenne and black pepper
How can I use my keto fajita seasoning?
You have some awesome low carb options for using this fajita seasoning! Of course, it’s amazing used to make fajitas. It works great with beef, chicken, pork, shrimp, and vegetarian fajitas. You can use the mix as is or as part of a marinade to make your fajitas. But you don’t have to stop with fajitas! It makes a great addition to chili, soups, and stews. You can also add it to all kinds of casseroles to give them amazing flavor. Or how about adding some to meatloaf and meatballs or adding some to your burgers! Yum! You’ll take your scrambled eggs and omelets to the next level when you add some of this seasoning to them! Another great way to use this seasoning is to add some when making Mexican cauliflower rice.
