When you want an impressively fresh and flavorful dip, this low carb creamy avocado dip is a perfect choice! Enjoy!
I love serving appetizer dips, and my family adores this low carb creamy avocado dip. Although we love guacamole, this dip is a fun and delicious change up. The extra creaminess in our dip comes from the addition of cream cheese and a little sour cream. I hope you’ll enjoy this delicious dip as much as we do!
Let’s talk about avocados!
I love avocados! I almost always have a few, in varying states of ripeness, setting out on my kitchen island. And even though my kids have always liked guacamole, they now love avocados served plain, either sliced or diced. We use them for all kinds of dishes including as a salad topping, or as a topping for burgers, keto sandwiches, and lettuce wraps. They’re also great for a snack option and I’ll usually lightly salt mine or even drizzle it with a little hot sauce. Another great option is to stuff avocadoes with chicken or tuna salad! Since they travel well, avocados are also great for taking to work or when traveling. They can be served as a great side for breakfast, brunch, lunch, or dinner. And since avocados are low in carbs and a great source of healthy fat, they are an awesome keto food choice!
What other ingredients go into this low carb creamy avocado dip?
We start our dip by combining cream cheese, salsa, and sour cream. For the best results, you’ll want to start with softened and cubed cream cheese, and you’ll want to use an electric mixer to make this dip. When buying salsa, you’ll want to check nutrition labels to ensure there is no added sugar or other ingredients you don’t want in your salsa. To this mixture, you’ll add your avocados, fresh chopped cilantro, fresh lime juice, chili powder, garlic and onion powder, salt, and pepper. If you’d like, you can use bottled lime juice in place of the fresh. This is a mild dip, but if you’d like a spicier dip, you could add some diced jalapenos, red pepper flakes, or hot sauce. When beating your dip, you can beat it until it’s mostly smooth, or you can beat it less if you’d like a chunkier dip.
How can I serve this low carb creamy avocado dip?
You have some awesome low carb options for serving this avocado dip! To serve this as an appetizer dip, you have some super low carb options to use as dippers. Raw vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower, celery, cherry or grape tomatoes, mushrooms, radishes, and sliced bell peppers all work great as dippers. You can also use cheese whisps, keto crackers, or pork rinds as dippers. Sliced cheese and meats such as pepperoni and salami are some other great options. You can also serve this dip as a topping for burgers, keto sandwiches, lettuce wraps, or with any kind of grilled meat. This dip also makes for a great addition to all kinds of cooked eggs, egg casseroles, keto quiches, and omelets. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention this dip is delicious just served as is in a bowl with a big spoon!
