I love when my children help me cook. They have been cooking and baking with me for as long as I can remember. I would get stools out and they would stand on them and help me add ingredients and stir things together. We loved making up recipes and trying out new combinations of ingredients. I would sometimes have one of my kids taste what we were making and I’d ask them if they thought it needed anything else. Often my son, who was probably about 4 or 5 years old at the time, would say, “smoked paprika!” Ha! Not too much has changed since then!
Today, my husband and kids were outside washing cars and enjoying the beautiful weather here. But, have no fear, I had one of my other cooking buddies with me. Miss Abigail loves to hang out and stay close while I cook!
Helpful Hints:
*You can cook your bacon and then crumble it. Or you can cut your bacon into bite size pieces with kitchen scissors and then fry them.
*If you’d like your cabbage a bit crunchier, you can cook for a few minutes less. If you’d like it softer, you can leave it to simmer for a longer amount of time.
