This keto green onion veggie dip has amazing flavor, and the green onions and fresh chopped cilantro add great texture. This dip is perfect for parties, potlucks, and any time you want a fresh and delicious dip. You can serve this dip immediately or you can make it ahead of time.
Let’s talk about green onions!
Green onions, also known as scallions, are great to use in keto dishes since they’re low in carbs and you don’t have to add many to get amazing flavor and texture. 2 medium green onions contain about 1 net gram of carbs. They also provide a good source of folate, and vitamins A, C, and K. Green onions have long green stems that are white near the roots. We’re using both the green and white parts of our green onions for this dip. Green onions have an awesome crisp texture and have a distinctive onion taste, but milder than regular onions. They can be added to dishes and cooked, but they’re also awesome served raw. One of the most popular uses of green onions is as a yummy garnish to top all kinds of dishes including egg dishes, casseroles, stir-fry dishes, and soups, just to name a few!
What other ingredients go into this keto green onion veggie dip?
Our creamy base for this dip is made using a combination of mayonnaise and sour cream. This also gives our dip the perfect tangy flavor. When buying mayo, you’ll want to check your nutritional labels to ensure there is no added sugar or oils you don’t want. I love cilantro and added ½ cup fresh chopped cilantro to my dip. If you’d prefer, you can substitute with ½ cup fresh chopped parsley. Lime juice brings an awesome citrus element which really brightens up this dip. I used fresh lime juice, but you can use bottled if you’d prefer. For seasoning, we simply add garlic powder, salt, pepper, and smoked paprika. You can give your dip a taste and add more salt and pepper if you’d like. You can serve this dip right away, but for parties, I like to make it a day ahead of time.
What are some ways I can serve this keto green onion dip?
You have some awesome low carb options for serving this dip. Raw vegetables are always a great option for dippers. Some of our favorites include broccoli, cauliflower, celery, cherry or grape tomatoes, cucumbers, mushrooms, radishes, and sliced bell peppers. You can also use cheese whisps, keto crackers, and pork rinds as dippers. Some other fun options include using a variety of sliced cheese as dippers or using meats such as pepperoni or sausage slices. You can also use this dip as a fun and delicious condiment for burgers, keto sandwiches, and lettuce wraps. It’s also good drizzled over cooked meats or cooked vegetables.
