This keto spiced cranberry ketchup is absolutely divine! It combines the perfect balance of sweet, tart, and tomato flavors! Enjoy!
When you want a fun change up, this keto spiced cranberry ketchup is a delicious choice! I love making homemade keto ketchup and am always playing around with ingredients to make fun ketchup variations. To make this ketchup, we start with fresh tomatoes and onions, then add cranberries and an awesome spice mixture. Although this is amazing for holidays, it’s also perfect to serve all year round!
Let’s talk about our tomatoes, onions, and cranberries!
I’ve experimented with different kinds of tomatoes to make homemade ketchup and have found that the combination of Roma and vine ripened tomatoes creates ketchup with the perfect thickness and texture. Romas, also known as plum tomatoes, add a hint of sweetness to our ketchup and they cook down nicely which helps to thicken the ketchup. The vine ripened tomatoes add a wonderful juiciness to the ketchup. I used a yellow onion for my ketchup, but you could use a white onion if you’d prefer. I’d made homemade keto cranberry sauce for our Thanksgiving dinner and had some extra cranberries to use up and thought they’d be perfect to use to make ketchup. We love the tartness that cranberries add to this ketchup, and we balance their tartness with keto sugar and the perfect spice mixture!
What other ingredients go into this keto spiced cranberry ketchup?
We add some simple but amazingly delicious ingredients to create this flavorful ketchup. We start by adding distilled white vinegar and vegetable broth. You can change up your flavors by substituting with chicken or beef broth if you’d like. We then add keto sugar. I used the Swerve brand of sugar, which contains zero calories and zero net carbs for my ketchup. When I make my go-to homemade keto ketchup, I add just a touch of keto sugar, but for this ketchup I added more to balance the flavors perfectly. For seasoning, we add celery salt, cinnamon, garlic powder, ground cloves, ground mustard, nutmeg, salt, and smoked paprika. You can substitute a teaspoon or so of mustard in place of the ground mustard if you’d like. You can also give your ketchup a taste and add more salt or more keto sugar based on your taste preference.
What are some ways I can serve this keto spiced cranberry ketchup?
You have some awesome low carb options for serving this ketchup! It’s perfect served as a condiment for burgers, brats, and sausage. You can also serve it with all kinds of grilled meats, keto sandwiches, and lettuce wraps. This ketchup is also amazing served with meatloaf, meatballs, pulled chicken, and pulled pork. One of my favorite things to make is keto chicken nuggets, and this ketchup makes an awesome dipping sauce for them. You can also use this ketchup to make a fun version of homemade cocktail sauce. This ketchup can also be served with all kinds of egg dishes including scrambled eggs, omelets, keto quiches, and egg casseroles, just to name a few. You can also use this ketchup in any dish, dressing, glaze, or sauce that calls for ketchup!
