This keto pumpkin spice hot chocolate is amazingly delicious and will always be a warm and welcomed comforting drink!
When you want a special sweet treat, this keto pumpkin spice hot chocolate is a perfect choice. It’s amazingly creamy and decadently delicious! This hot chocolate comes together in just 15 minutes and will be a huge hit every time you serve it!
Let’s talk about our almond milk and heavy whipping cream!
A couple of the things we do to make this hot chocolate low carb is to use unsweetened almond milk and heavy whipping cream as the creamy base for our drink. There are quite a few brands of almond milk you can choose from, but you’ll want to make sure you’re using unsweetened almond milk as it contains no added sugar and is low in carbs. If you’d prefer, you can use unsweetened coconut milk. If so, you’ll want to use the kind from a carton and not the kind from a can. Some additional options include using unsweetened cashew milk or unsweetened macadamia milk. Heavy whipping cream is low in carbs and a great keto choice! It also adds incredible creaminess and richness to our hot chocolate.
What other ingredients go into this keto pumpkin spice hot chocolate?
To our unsweetened almond milk and heavy whipping cream, we add just a few simple but amazingly delicious ingredients. For the perfect sweetness level, we add keto granulated sugar. I used the Swerve brand. It contains zero calories and zero net carbs. It’s also amazingly similar in its sweetness level to regular sugar. We then add unsweetened cocoa powder and keto milk chocolate chips. I used the Baked Believe brand of chocolate chips for my hot chocolate. Alternately, Lily’s makes delicious milk chocolate chips as well. We then add pumpkin pie spice and a pinch of salt. The pumpkin pie spice adds amazing warm flavors to our drink. I cook my hot chocolate until it’s hot but not quite boiling. Then after removing it from the heat, I stir in the vanilla. You can serve your hot chocolate as is, or you can top it with some keto whipped cream.
How do I make keto whipped cream to use as a topping for my keto pumpkin spice hot chocolate?
It’s incredibly easy to make homemade keto whipped cream, and once you make it, you’ll never want anything else. This is because it’s superior in flavor and creaminess to anything else! First, I recommend you start by chilling your mixing bowl and beaters in the freezer for 15-20 minutes before using. Then, to your chilled bowl, you’ll add 1 cup of heavy whipping cream, 2 tablespoons of keto powdered sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla. You’ll want to beat this mixture until stiff peaks form. Stiff peaks mean when you remove your beaters, they form peaks which completely hold their shape. You can easily double this recipe for keto whipped cream and can add even more keto powdered sugar if you’d like a sweeter whipped cream! If you’d like, you can also experiment with different extract flavors for your whipped cream.
