This keto no mayo coleslaw is amazingly flavorful and amazingly crunchy! It’s a perfect side for all your upcoming barbecues and parties!
My family absolutely loves this keto no mayo coleslaw! I usually make coleslaw with a creamy dressing using mayonnaise and sour cream, but this mayo free coleslaw is a wonderful alternative. It contains the perfect balance of tangy flavors with just a hint of sweetness!
Let’s talk about our coleslaw mix!
To make this coleslaw, you can use a pre-made coleslaw mix or you can make a homemade mix. Although I love making most all my dishes from scratch, I also love the convenience of using a ready made coleslaw mix! Most pre-made mixes consist of green and red cabbage with shredded carrots. The amount of carrots added is minimal, so the carb count remains low. If you’d like to make your own coleslaw mix, you can use as much green cabbage and red cabbage as you’d like. You can also choose whether or not you’d like to add shredded carrots to your mixture. When making my own mix, I like to chop my cabbage, but you can also shred it if you’d prefer. If you want some other fun options, you can add chopped broccoli, Napa cabbage, shredded Brussels sprouts, shredded kohlrabi, or diced bell peppers and onions.
How do I make the dressing for this keto no mayo coleslaw?
The dressing for this coleslaw contains just a few simple but amazingly delicious ingredients. We combine avocado oil, apple cider vinegar, keto granulated sugar, Dijon mustard, celery seed, salt, and pepper to make our dressing. I like the fact that avocado oil has a mostly neutral flavor with subtle hints of buttery and nutty flavors. You can use olive oil in place of avocado oil if you’d like. Olive oil will bring a stronger taste and adds a touch of peppery flavor. I love the addition of apple cider vinegar, but white wine or champagne vinegar are two other great options. I used the Swerve brand for my keto sugar, but you can substitute with your favorite brand if you’d like. For the mustard, you can substitute with yellow mustard or even with some spicy brown mustard. For seasoning, we’re simply adding celery seed, salt, and pepper.
What are some ways I can serve this keto no mayo coleslaw?
You have some awesome options for serving this coleslaw! It’s perfect to serve for lunch, brunch, or dinner and is a wonderful side for barbecues, parties, and potlucks. You can serve this coleslaw with all kinds of meats including beef, chicken, pork, and seafood. It’s great to serve with everything from burgers, brats, and grilled chicken to roasts, steaks, and seafood mains. I think coleslaw pairs especially well with pulled chicken, pulled pork, and keto meatloaf. You can also serve it with lettuce wraps and all kinds of keto casseroles. Another fun option is to serve this coleslaw with a soup to make an awesome soup and salad meal. You can also add some keto biscuits, chaffles, cornbread, or English muffins to complete your meal!
