When you want an incredibly rich and flavorful dish, this creamy keto crab pasta is a perfect choice!

This creamy keto crab pasta is made with hearts of palm pasta which helps to keep it low in carbs, but creates a pasta dish with texture similar to regular pasta. We make a homemade creamy sauce and add lump crab meat and peas to complete our dish. This is an awesome dish to make for special occasion meals or any time you want an extra special treat!

Let’s talk about hearts of palm pasta!
Hearts of palm pasta is an excellent low carb substitution for pasta. I’m very impressed with how similar the texture of hearts of palm pasta is to regular pasta. Heart of palm is low in carbs and calories and is gluten free. Palmini is actually a brand name, but you can use other brands if you’d like. One of my favorites is Trader Joe’s heart of palm linguini and I especially love its soft texture. For this dish, I wanted to use angel hair pasta, so I used Palmini angel hair pasta. For the best results, I do recommend draining the pasta, rinsing it, then boiling it for about 10 minutes to achieve a nice soft texture. Another nice thing about hearts of palm pasta takes is that it’s fairly neutral in flavor and takes on the flavor of the ingredients and sauce you add to it.

What kind of crab should I use to make this creamy keto crab pasta?
Crab meat is one of the stars of this dish, and you’ll want to make sure you use real crab meat and not imitation crab. Imitation crab is highly processed and is typically made from white fish, usually pollock. It also has added ingredients which are not keto and which are quite high in carbs. Some of these include starches, sugar, oils, and preservatives. Real crab meat tends to be on the expensive side, so feel free to use one that fits your budget. I like Sam’s club crab as it’s more affordable and it’s delicious! Although crab is usually picked clean, I recommend checking your crab to make sure there are no shells or bones in it. While doing this, I also like to break up the larger pieces of crab into smaller pieces.

How do I make the sauce for this creamy keto crab pasta?
The sauce for this dish comes together quickly, but it’s amazingly creamy and flavorful. We start by sauteing minced garlic in butter, lots of butter!🧈This adds nicely to the richness of our sauce. We then add heavy whipping cream, white wine, and lemon juice. If you’d prefer, you can substitute chicken broth for the white wine. We then add grated Parmesan cheese. For the best results, I highly recommend buying a wedge of Parmesan cheese and grating it yourself. For seasoning, we simply add dried parsley, salt, and pepper. The final ingredient in this dish is thawed frozen peas. Although higher in carbs than some vegetables, when used in moderation, peas can easily fit into a keto plan. You can give your dish a taste and add more salt and pepper to taste.
