What do you get when you combine tuna, bacon, lettuce, and tomato with a creamy delicious dressing? You get a perfect blt keto tuna salad that you’ll want to make often! And you can make this recipe in just 15 minutes! Our family loves this recipe and I hope yours will too!
Let’s talk tuna!
Canned tuna is a food that many of us grew up eating. Our moms used it to make everything from tuna salad to tuna noodle casserole! It is also an awesome option to be included in a keto diet. Tuna is a low calorie and zero carb food. There are many canned choices you can use. Since we are adding a mayonnaise sour cream dressing to this recipe, I recommend using tuna in water. Remember to drain your tuna well to avoid a soggy salad!
You can’t go wrong with bacon, lettuce, and tomato!
Adding bacon, lettuce, and tomato to your tuna salad will take your salad to the next level! For recipes such as this, I like to cut my raw bacon into small pieces using kitchen scissors. I then fry the pieces in a skillet over medium heat, stirring occasionally. This gives me time to cut up the lettuce, tomatoes, celery, and onion for the salad. It also gives time to whip up the dressing. Then when the bacon is drained, you can toss it into the salad and your salad is ready! I usually chill the salad for a couple of hours before serving. But you can eat this right away and it is just as delicious!
Are there tips to making the dressing for this blt keto tuna salad?
There are a few helpful hints for making the dressing for this salad. Make sure you’re using a keto mayonnaise. Read the labels on your mayonnaise to ensure there is no sugar added and that there are no unwanted oils in it. I use Chosen Foods avocado oil mayonnaise because I know it is keto and I like the taste. You can also use homemade mayo if you’d like. I choose the lowest carb sour cream I can find. This recipe calls for dried chives. You can use fresh chives as well. Just remember that you’ll need about three times the amount of chives if you’re using fresh.
