This homemade keto cranberry sauce will bring a zip to your favorite dishes! It will be a fun addition to your favorite holiday recipes!
If you don’t tell them, no one will guess this homemade keto cranberry sauce is low carb! It has just the right balance of sweet and tart. This cranberry sauce was a big hit with our Thanksgiving meal this year! I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
Let’s talk about the ingredients used to make this homemade keto cranberry sauce!
I used both keto brown and granulated sugar in this dish. The brown sugar helps to create both an awesome sweet depth of flavor and a deep dark color for this sauce. I chose the Swerve brand for both my sugars. These sugars contain zero calories and zero net carbs. And they’re both delicious! Next, we add fresh cranberries. You can use frozen cranberries if you’d like. The main zip in this recipe comes from the lemon zest and juice. A touch of orange extract adds its own zip as well! I added some pumpkin pie spice and vanilla to round off the recipe. The ingredients all work perfectly together to create a delicious cranberry sauce I think you’ll want to add to your recipe collection!
Is this a difficult sauce to make?
If you’ve never made homemade cranberry sauce, you’ll be amazed at how easy and fun it is to make! And when making your own, you can be assured all ingredients are low carb and keto! There are just a few simple steps to making this sauce. Boil your water with both sugars, stirring occasionally to help dissolve the sugar. Next add all remaining ingredients. Bring the mixture back to a boil. Then decrease heat so your mixture simmers, just under a boil.
Simmer for 10-12 minutes or until most of your cranberries pop. Everyone has a preference as to the consistency of their cranberry sauce. You can smoosh the cranberries that don’t pop by using a spoon to press them against the side of your saucepan if you’d like. Or you can leave some of cranberries whole. That is how I prepared ours.
What are some ways I can serve this homemade keto cranberry sauce?
Here are just a few suggestions for serving this cranberry sauce. You can serve this sauce alongside your favorite meats. It especially pairs well with chicken, turkey, and pork. Use this sauce in place of jelly to top your keto biscuits, chaffles, pancakes, and waffles. This sauce can be used as a condiment in your favorite low carb sandwiches. You can also top your favorite keto cheesecake or ice cream with this sauce, even heating it if you’d like! How about adding some of this sauce to your chicken salad?
