You may want to roast a turkey just so you can make this keto leftover turkey salad! Leftovers never tasted so good!
Everyone should have some go-to leftover turkey recipes and this keto leftover turkey salad is one of our favorites! This is a quick, easy, and delicious dish that will help make the most of your leftover turkey. And each serving comes in at just 1 gram of net carbs! Enjoy!
Let’s talk turkey!
The main ingredient for this recipe is, of course, leftover turkey! I used all white meat for my turkey salad. You can use all white meat, all dark meat, or a mixture of both for your turkey salad. This is all based on your and your family’s preferences. Turkey is high in protein. White meat contains less fat and calories than dark meat. Something you might not know about turkey is that it contains several nutrients! It contains niacin, phosphorous, potassium, selenium, sodium, and zinc. Turkey also provides a good amount of Vitamin B6 and B12. And it contains zero carbs!
What are the main ingredients for the dressing in this keto leftover turkey salad?
For my chicken and turkey salads, I love the flavor combination of using both mayonnaise and sour cream. I prefer Chosen Foods avocado mayonnaise. You can use any keto mayonnaise you’d like. Just read your nutrition labels to make sure there is no added sugar or oils you don’t want. Lemon juice and Dijon mustard give the salad a little zing of flavor and the brown sugar adds just a touch of sweetness! I used Swerve brown sugar. It contains zero calories and zero net carbs and is delicious! I chose to add a little dill, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. You could use some minced garlic instead of the garlic powder if you’d like. After adding the seasoning, you can always add more salt and pepper to taste!
How did you keep this salad so low carb?
There are a few things I did to ensure this salad remained keto and low carb. I used celery and onion for this salad because I love the crunch and flavor they bring to the dish. But I carefully measured the amounts to keep the carb count low. Using keto brown sugar is a key to this recipe as it adds zero net carbs. I always read the nutrition labels on the foods I purchase. The sour cream I use contains just one gram of carb per serving. Other brands contain more, so it’s good to read your labels so you know exactly what you’re getting.
How can I serve this keto leftover turkey salad?
You have many low carb options for serving this salad! It tastes great served by itself in a bowl! My son, Isaac, can attest to that.😊It can be served atop some lettuce or spinach along with perhaps some sliced tomatoes, avocadoes, or even hard-boiled eggs! You can make a great sandwich using this turkey salad. To keep it keto, some suggestions would be to serve it in a lettuce wrap or with your favorite keto bread.
