This keto bacon cheddar chive cheese ball will be a hit with your family and friends! It is creamy, delicious, and low carb!
You simply can’t have too many appetizer recipes, and this keto bacon cheddar chive cheese ball is a real crowd pleaser! There’s just something familiar and comforting about cheese balls. They are a timeless and classic appetizer option, and they are one of the first to disappear at parties and get togethers. I think you’ll enjoy this flavorful low carb cheese ball!
Let’s talk about the two kinds of cheese that go into this keto bacon cheddar chive cheese ball!
We start with cream cheese. I recommend using full fat cream cheese for all your cheeseballs as I believe it is richer. If you use low fat cream cheese, check your nutrition labels as there may be added ingredients you don’t want. Next, I used a medium cheddar for my cheese. You can use mild or sharp cheddar if you’d prefer. I grated my own cheese for this cheeseball. Pre-shredded cheeses often add ingredients such as cellulose and potato starch. Plus, I think the texture of cheese you grate yourself is the best!
What other ingredients are in this cheeseball?
There is ½ cup of fried and crumbled bacon in this recipe. The bacon is divided. Half goes in the cheeseball and the other half is used to roll the cheeseball in. Isn’t that awesome!😊I think fresh chives are the way to go with this cheeseball. If you can’t get your hands on fresh chives, you could substitute chopped green onions; but it will change the taste of the cheeseball. The cheddar cheese, bacon and chives provide so much flavor for this cheeseball that we only need a few simple ingredients to season it further. Tamari, garlic powder, and onion powder give this cheeseball that seasoning! Most tamari brands are gluten free but some aren’t, so always check your labels. The last ingredient is chopped pecans. Rolling your cheeseball in a combination of bacon and pecans makes this cheeseball both incredibly delicious and incredibly beautiful!
Is this keto bacon cheddar chive cheese ball difficult to make?
This is a fun and easy recipe. If you have children, this is a great recipe to have them help with. My children have been cooking and baking with me since they were little. I started them with recipes like this because it is fun and a little bit messy! I do have a couple of tips for making this cheeseball. First, make sure your cream cheese is very soft so it will be easier to mix. I recommend using an electric mixer, but you can mix by stirring the ingredients together. It will just take more time and work.😉Next, make sure you wrap up your cheese ball and refrigerate for at least an hour or two before rolling it in the bacon and pecans. Last, you may have to press some of the bacon and pecans into the cheeseball if they don’t all stick. Now that is a fun and messy job any child would enjoy!
