Let’s talk about tarragon!
I love fresh tarragon. Tarragon is a perennial herb, meaning once you plant it, it will continue to grow back every year. You wouldn’t know by looking at it, but it is actually a member of the sunflower family. You can buy dried or fresh tarragon and the kind you’ll be buying is French tarragon. There are two other types, Russian and Mexican. Tarragon is a highly aromatic herb, and it has a very distinctive taste. It is used in many French dishes, including in Bearnaise sauce. Tarragon works especially well with chicken, fish, and egg dishes. It is also used in dressings, vinaigrettes, and sauces. This dressing highlights the flavor of tarragon and I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
What other ingredients go into this creamy keto tarragon dressing?
To our tarragon, we add just a little garlic. The addition of mayonnaise and sour cream make for an incredibly tasty and creamy mixture. We then add lemon juice and zest, along with some Dijon mustard, heavy whipping cream, keto sugar, salt, and pepper. The lemon juice and sugar balance out one another and create the perfect balance of zesty and sweet. The whipping cream thins out our dressing just a touch to make it the perfect consistency. This is the way we love our dressing; but you can always adjust ingredients for your liking. You can add more garlic to yours if you’d like. If you find this dressing too tart, you can add a touch more sugar. You can also add more heavy whipping cream if you’d like a thinner dressing. Last, give your dressing a taste and add more salt and pepper if you’d like.
How can I serve this creamy keto tarragon dressing?
You have some awesome options for serving this dressing! You can serve it as a salad dressing for your favorite lettuce and spinach salads. But you don’t have to stop there! You can use this dressing as a sauce to top meats and vegetables with. Burgers, keto sandwiches, and wraps will get an amazing burst of flavor when you add some of this dressing to them. Toss a little into your tuna or chicken salad for a nice change of pace. This dressing also makes for an incredible dip for your raw veggies.
