This sausage egg roll in a bowl is an awesome dish that comes together in under 30 minutes. I often use ground turkey when I make egg roll in a bowl; but this sausage version was a big hit at my house. When you want a quick, easy, and delicious meal, this will always satisfy!
What is egg roll in a bowl?
Egg roll in a bowl is a fun dish, taking traditional egg roll ingredients and serving them in a bowl instead of in an egg roll wrapper. There are a variety of ingredients that can go into an egg roll. There are also a variety of ingredients that can go into egg roll in a bowl recipes. Since we aren’t using egg roll wrappers, this dish is incredibly low carb and keto. The word “egg” in eggroll comes from the egg roll wrappers, so there isn’t actually an egg in our egg roll in a bowl. But if you’d like to add a scrambled egg or two in your dish, that would be an awesome addition. I chose pork sausage for this dish, but ground beef or ground turkey are great options as well!
What other ingredients go into this sausage egg roll in a bowl?
To our sausage, we add fresh garlic and fresh ginger. These ingredients give this dish amazing flavor and are a great combination! We then add tamari and rice vinegar. You’ll want to make sure you’re using plain rice vinegar and not seasoned rice vinegar. Seasoned rice vinegar contains sugar and sometimes artificial coloring and preservatives. I only added a little pepper to my dish, but you can always add more if you’d like. You have a couple of choices for your cabbage. Although sometimes I like to chop my own cabbage, I also love the ease of using a prepared bag of coleslaw. Either works great for this dish. Our last ingredient is toasted sesame oil which is simply oil made from toasted sesame seeds. It is insanely delicious! I topped my dish with chopped green onions, but chopped chives are another good option.
How can I serve this sausage egg roll in a bowl?
This is a filling dish and is a meal in itself and can be served as is in a big bowl!😊If you’d like, you could serve this dish with a bowl of keto soup. Adding a side of cauliflower rice or cilantro lime cauliflower rice would also be a nice option. Another fun option for serving this dish is to use it as a filling for lettuce wraps.
