I love making my family smoothies, and dad’s keto raspberry strawberry smoothie is my husband’s favorite! I often top it with fresh keto whipped cream to make this smoothie even more decadent!
Dad’s keto raspberry strawberry smoothie is frequently requested at my house! And when my family loves my dishes, it makes me immensely happy. This smoothie is rich, creamy, and fruity. It’s also incredibly low carb and keto! I hope you and your family will enjoy this treat as much as we do!
Let’s talk about our raspberries and strawberries!
Many fruits are not allowed on a low carb keto plan because their carb count is too high. The awesome news is that most berries, eaten in moderation, are a great keto food option! One cup of raspberries contains about 7 net grams of carbs. One cup of strawberries contains about 7-8 net grams of carbs. Both raspberries and strawberries are low-calorie foods which are rich in nutrients. Raspberries provide us with a source of folate, iron, magnesium, manganese, potassium, and vitamins C, E, and K. Strawberries contain folate, magnesium, manganese, potassium, and vitamins A and C. Both berries are also a good source of fiber. For this smoothie, I used fresh berries; but you can use frozen berries if you’d like.
What other ingredients go into dad’s keto raspberry strawberry smoothie?
To our berries, we add a combination of unsweetened almond milk and heavy whipping cream. This combination gives our smoothie richness while keeping the carb count down. The almond milk I use contains just one net gram of carbs per cup. You could use coconut milk if you’d like. Just make sure it’s the kind from a carton, not the kind in a can. We then add some ice to our smoothie. To this we add keto sugar for a little touch of sweetness. I used the Swerve brand. It contains zero calories and zero net carbs. It’s also delicious! A little vanilla and salt round out our smoothie perfectly. I love having homemade keto whipped cream in the refrigerator and often top our smoothies with it!
Is it difficult to make homemade keto whipped cream to top dad’s keto raspberry strawberry smoothie with?
It is incredibly easy to make your own keto whipped cream. It is also amazingly creamy and delicious. Once you make your own, you’ll likely ask yourself why you ever used anything else! I recommend you chill your mixing bowl and beaters in the freezer for 15-20 minutes before using. Then, to your chilled bowl, you’ll add 1 cup of heavy whipping cream, 2 tablespoons of keto powdered sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla. Beat your whipped cream until stiff peaks form. Stiff peaks mean when you remove your beaters, your whipped cream forms peaks which completely hold their shape. If you’d like to change up your flavors, you can experiment with using different flavored extracts for your whipped cream. This recipe can also easily be doubled.
