Everyone should have a recipe for basic chaffles! You won’t believe how awesomely delicious these low carb chaffles are!
This recipe for basic chaffles is a keto low carb dream come true! If you haven’t tried chaffles, you are in for a real treat! Chaffles can be made with any number of ingredients and they can be made savory or sweet. This is the most basic recipe for chaffles, and you won’t believe how incredibly easy they are to make and how delicious they taste!
Can I really make these basic chaffles using only two ingredients?
Yes! In actuality, you’ll need three ingredients, as you need a keto oil spray for the waffle maker. But the chaffles themselves contain only two ingredients.😉With just one egg and ½ cup of shredded cheese, you’ll be amazed with the resulting flavor and texture of these chaffles! I like to use mozzarella cheese because it has a mild flavor and I think creates chaffles which most resemble the taste of regular waffles. You can use any type of cheese that melts easily if you’d prefer, but your chaffles may have a stronger cheese taste. I like to shred my own cheese because packaged shredded cheeses have added ingredients such as cellulose and potato starch and because I think it melts better.
What type of waffle maker do you suggest I use for my chaffles?
I love my Dash mini maker and it is my #1 recommendation for making chaffles. My husband bought me the Christmas version which has a snowflake design on the bottom and a regular waffle iron pattern on the top. The basic Dash mini maker has a waffle iron pattern on the top and bottom. This mini waffle maker is exceptionally easy to use and clean-up is a breeze! The mini maker also makes the perfect size chaffles to use as bread in sandwiches.
You can use a regular size waffle iron. If you do so, you’ll need to either double the recipe to make two large chaffles or you can divide the basic recipe to make two smaller chaffles knowing your chaffles will likely be irregular in size since ½ the batter won’t cover the entire waffle iron surface. Remember to use a soft utensil to remove the chaffles so you don’t scratch your waffle iron!
How can I serve these chaffles?
You can use these chaffles in any number of dishes. They make a quick and easy snack all on their own. You can use them as bread to make your favorite sandwiches. These chaffles can be served as a bun for your favorite burger. You can top them with butter and syrup and serve as you would a traditional waffle. How about slathering them with your favorite nut butter for an incredible treat? The possibilities are endless! I look forward to sharing additional chaffle recipes with you, both savory and sweet!
