This cheddar bacon ranch coleslaw is incredibly creamy and bursting with flavor! It will be a huge hit every time you serve it!
When you want an amazingly delicious and special salad, this cheddar bacon ranch coleslaw is a perfect choice! This is a great side for barbecues, parties, and potlucks. The addition of cheddar cheese, crumbled bacon, and ranch dressing really takes this coleslaw over the top in both creaminess and in flavor!
Let’s talk about our coleslaw mix!
You can use a pre-made coleslaw mix or you can make your own for this dish. Although I like to shred cabbage and make my own mix, I also love the convenience of using a ready-made mix. And although I don’t often add carrots to my dishes, the amount added to coleslaw mixes is small so the carb count for the mix remains low. One of the advantages of making your own coleslaw mix is that you can decide exactly how much green and red cabbage you’d like to add. You can also choose to add some grated carrots to your mix, or can leave them out completely. If you need some other fun ideas for making coleslaw mixes, you can add Napa cabbage, chopped broccoli, shredded Brussels sprouts, shredded kohlrabi, diced bell peppers, diced onions, cilantro, or parsley or a fun combination of these ingredients!
What other ingredients go into this cheddar bacon ranch coleslaw?
To our coleslaw mix, we add fried and crumbled bacon and shredded cheddar cheese. You can cook your bacon any way you’d like and can cook it to your desired crispness level. For this dish, I actually diced raw bacon, then fried it in a skillet on the stovetop. You can also easily cook your bacon in the oven. You’ll want to place your bacon, making sure the pieces don’t overlap, onto a rimmed baking sheet. Then put your bacon into a cold oven and bake at 375 degrees until the bacon reaches your desired crispness level. For your cheese, I recommend buying a block of cheese and grating it yourself. This will help create the perfect texture for your coleslaw. You can use mild, medium, or sharp cheddar cheese. If you’d like, you can also substitute with shredded colby, colby jack, Monterey jack, mozzarella, or even Swiss cheese.
Why would I want to make homemade keto ranch dressing to use in this cheddar bacon ranch coleslaw?
I love making homemade dressings and vinaigrettes, and my homemade keto ranch dressing is one of our family favorites. First, homemade dressings are quick and easy to make, are amazingly delicious, and can also save you some money. When you make your own dressings, you’ll know exactly what goes into them and can avoid unwanted ingredients. Some ingredients often added to store bought dressings include artificial flavors and colors, msg, preservatives, starches, and sugar just to name a few. Another great reason for making your own ranch dressing is that you can adjust seasonings and amounts of seasonings to make the dressing your own. And since homemade ranch dressing is so quick and easy to make, you can always have some ready to serve with salads or any recipe calling for ranch dressing.
