This crockpot ham in foil takes just 5 minutes of prep time and results in an amazingly delicious, fall off the bone ham!
Your crockpot will do the work when you make this crockpot ham in foil! This ham comes out amazingly flavorful and juicy and takes only about 5 minutes of preparation time. This is a delicious ham that is perfect for everyday meals yet elegant enough for holiday and special occasion meals!
Let’s talk about our ingredients!
You’ll be amazed at how 3 simple ingredients create such a moist and flavorful ham. For my ham, I used a large bone-in ham to ensure there would be plenty of leftovers to make keto sandwiches and such! I also saved the ham bone to make keto ham bone turnip soup. When buying your ham, you’ll want to check nutritional information to make sure there are no added ingredients you don’t want in your ham. Often, hams are cured with salt, sugar, and sometimes other curing ingredients. The amount of sugar, often listed as dextrose, is usually minimal; but you can definitely also look for an uncured ham that contains no added sugar. We simply brush our ham with some liquid smoke to add amazing flavor to our ham, then add a little water to our crockpot to keep the ham from drying out.
How do I make this crockpot ham in foil?
This is an amazingly easy ham to make, but there are a few things you can do to ensure yours will turn out perfectly. First, I recommend placing your ham on the foil before brushing it with the liquid smoke. This is the easiest and least messy option for preparing the ham.😉 You can use heavy duty aluminum foil or as many pieces of regular foil as needed to completely wrap your ham in the foil. Next, I like to cook my ham as is, then remove most of the fat after the ham has cooked. The fat helps to add great flavor and juiciness to the ham. When you place your ham in the crockpot, have no fears if it’s too big to top with the crockpot lid. You can simply cover it tightly with foil and press the foil around the top to create a seal.
How can I serve this crockpot ham in foil?
You have some awesome low carb options for serving this ham. This dish literally has your ham falling off the bone and is amazingly delicious sliced or cut into chunks and served as is! You can serve this with any cooked keto vegetable. Some good options include asparagus, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, green beans, spinach, and zucchini. Roasted radishes are also a delicious option. You can also serve this ham with roasted, sauteed, or mashed cauliflower or turnips. If you’d like, you can chop your ham and use it as the main ingredient in a big green salad with all your favorite toppings. You can also serve it with coleslaw or any keto side salad. Another awesome way to serve this ham is to use keto bread, biscuits, chaffles, or English muffins to make the ultimate ham sandwich! You can also use any leftover ham to create some amazing dishes!
