What do you get when you combine a homemade dry rub with chicken drumsticks and bacon? You get this easy and awesome crockpot keto bacon wrapped drumsticks recipe that I think you will love!
I love to cook! I love everything about cooking! I love the planning, the creating, the prepping, and the actual processes of cooking. Sometimes recipes include a long list of ingredients which meld perfectly together to create a complex dish. But sometimes a few simple, yet perfectly chosen ingredients, can be combined to create an awesome easy fantastic dish. That is what you’ll find with this crockpot keto bacon wrapped drumstick recipe. A simple dry rub creates an incredible depth of flavor when simply combined with chicken drumsticks and bacon.
Let’s talk about this keto dry rub!
You could simply wrap chicken drumsticks with bacon, cook them, and serve with your favorite keto barbecue sauce. But the addition of a dry rub is an awesome way to add flavor while keeping the recipe low carb and keto. This dry rub combines sweet, savory, and smoky elements. It works great with both the chicken and the bacon. Reserving a couple tablespoons to sprinkle on top of the chicken gives the drumsticks a little crust. This is great because it means you don’t have to finish them off under the broiler!
Do you have any suggestions for making this recipe?
There are a few things you can do to ensure this recipe comes out perfectly. Make sure your drumsticks are completely coated with the olive oil. This will help ensure the dry rub sticks to the chicken. Next, I recommend using regular bacon, not thick bacon. Regular bacon wraps better around the drumsticks and covers the drumsticks more completely. Last, I suggest checking these for doneness sooner rather than later. If you leave them in too long, they’ll still taste great, but the bacon may start to fall off the chicken. Don’t worry if this happens. Just rewrap the best you can, and they will taste so good nobody will even notice.
