These beans are made with canned green beans, but with the added ingredients they come out amazingly flavorful. These beans are easy enough to make for everyday meals, yet delicious enough to serve for holidays and special occasion meals!
Let’s talk about dad’s keto green beans!
When I make green beans, I usually start with fresh green beans. I love their flavor and crisp texture. It’s what I use to make my keto green bean casserole and the majority of my green bean dishes. Sometimes I’ll use frozen green beans, especially for soups. My husband has always enjoyed canned green beans and he actually often prefers them to fresh. So I made these beans for him, and he loves them! The addition of bacon, onions, garlic, chicken broth, butter, parsley, keto granulated sugar, salt, and pepper takes these beans over the top in flavor. They combine the perfect balance of savory and slightly sweet flavors! You can give your beans a taste and add more keto sugar, salt, or pepper if you’d like.
Do you have any tips for making dad’s keto green beans?
These beans are easy to make, but there are some things you can do to ensure yours turn out perfectly every time. First, when you cook your bacon, you can fry it to your desired crispness level. I cook mine until they’re cooked through but still a little soft. If you’d like a stronger garlic taste to your beans, you can add even more garlic. After adding the green beans and remaining ingredients, I bring the mixture to a boil and simmer, partially covered, for 10-15 minutes. At this point everything is heated through, and the beans are nice and tender. When serving your beans, you can add as much of the skillet juices to them as you’d like. Last, as leftovers, these beans reheat well either in the microwave or in a pan on the stovetop.
What are some ways I can serve these green beans?
These beans are perfect for everyday meals, but they’re so delicious you can also serve them for holiday meals or for any special occasion meal. These beans pair nicely with any meats including beef, chicken, pork, and seafood. You can serve them with anything from burgers to steaks, or from grilled chicken to fancy seafood mains. They make a great addition to meatloaf, keto casseroles of all kinds, and roasts.
