Let’s talk about everything bagel seasoning!
I can’t remember the first time I tried everything bagel seasoning, but I do know once I tried it, I started adding it to all kinds of dishes! Depending on the brand you use, you may see some slight variations in ingredients, but the main ingredients are usually similar. These include black sesame seeds, white sesame seeds, minced dried garlic, minced dried onion, poppy seeds, and either salt or sea salt flakes. I have found that the amount of salt in everything bagel seasoning can vary quite a bit so some brands will be a lot saltier than others. You can also make your own everything bagel seasoning and can then easily control the salt level. Everything bagel seasoning adds amazing flavor to all kinds of dishes. It’s often added to chicken, fish, pork, and seafood dishes. I also add it to dips, egg dishes, salads, and vegetables.
What other ingredients go into these easy everything bagel chaffles?
Basic chaffles are made with just two ingredients, eggs and shredded mozzarella cheese. Although these are delicious, I’ve found that adding a couple extra ingredients gives chaffles extra flavor and texture, and makes a heartier chaffle. So, in addition to eggs and cheese, I add almond flour and baking powder to my chaffles. The almond flour gives our chaffles a texture more similar to regular waffles and gives them more of a bread like texture. The addition of baking powder helps our chaffles to fluff up beautifully. For cheese, mozzarella is a mild flavored cheese which makes it perfect for making chaffles. I do highly recommend you buy a block of mozzarella cheese and shred it yourself. This melts the absolute best and there are no added ingredients often found in pre-shredded cheeses.
