This awesome, quick, and easy keto Asian beef and cabbage stir fry comes together in under half an hour. It is low carb, keto, and delicious! There is no need to compromise on flavor when making keto dishes. The simple combination of ingredients in this stir fry creates a wonderful depth of flavors that I think your whole family will enjoy!
Let’s talk about the sauce for this easy keto Asian beef and cabbage stir fry!
The sauce for this dish includes just 5 simple ingredients. But when whisked together, they create the perfect combination for this stir fry! First, we start with tamari. Tamari is a soy sauce that is gluten free. There are brands of tamari which add a small amount of wheat so always read the nutrition labels when choosing your tamari. Next, add in some toasted sesame oil. A little of this oil brings a lot of flavor! I chose the Swerve brand brown sugar because I think it is delicious and has zero calories and zero net carbs. Apple cider vinegar and hot sauce round off the ingredients for this sauce. I used Cholula hot sauce because I just love that stuff.😊You can use Siracha or whatever hot sauce you’d like.
Let’s cover the stir fry ingredients!
I used 80/20 ground beef for my stir fry. Since we’re draining the fat after cooking the beef, you can use a fatter or leaner ground beef combination if you’d like. A small amount of red onions and garlic give this dish just the right amount of flavor while keeping the carb count low. I love fresh ginger and recommend it for this dish. It adds a fresh and vibrant element to this keto stir fry. If you don’t have fresh ginger, you can substitute 1 teaspoon of ground ginger for the tablespoon of fresh ginger the recipe calls for. I used a simple store-bought coleslaw mix for my stir fry. I do recommend tearing up any large pieces of cabbage in the mix before adding them to your skillet.
Can I change up any of the ingredients in this easy keto Asian beef and cabbage stir fry?
Sure! I used ground beef for this stir fry. You could use ground turkey or even ground chicken if you’d like. A substitution of yellow or white onions could replace the red onion if that’s what you have on hand. You could use a broccoli based coleslaw instead of a cabbage based one. Just remember that might necessitate cooking the mixture a bit longer to get it softened. This is a mild spice dish. If you’d like it hotter, you can add more hot sauce or could even add some diced jalapenos if spicy is your preference!

Helpful Hints:
*If you substitute ground ginger for fresh ginger, use 1 teaspoon of ground ginger in place of 1 tablespoon of fresh ginger.
*You can add more hot sauce if you’d like a spicier dish.

I started to prepare this and realized the picture that caused me to choose the recipe is not the same as the recipe. The picture shows no red onions and includes green onions. I’m a little thrown by this misrepresentation and am unsure if I should do one or the other or both! Any advice?

Hi Nicole. There are 2 tablespoons of diced red onions in the dish which are sauteed with the ground beef. They blend in with the red cabbage but I promise they’re in the dish and give it awesome flavor. The green onions are just an optional topping which can be added after you plate the dish if you’d like to add them. You could also top the dish with some fresh chopped chives, but again, that’s completely optional. I hope you enjoy the dish!

This is great. To add some more protein, I cooked some beaten eggs in the skillet first, then removed to a plate. Just pour them in the pan and let cook, flipping once. When it’s cool enough, cut into small strips. Add them toward the end of cooking the stir fry.

I’m so glad you enjoyed it. I agree it’s awesome with some added eggs.

I made this last night, and added an egg on top for those who requested it (like a Loco Moco). My family ate every bit and would have had more. I had a head of cabbage that I used, and have half of that in matchsticks for another meal. My husband suggested we do this recipe again.
