What ingredients go into this easy keto brown gravy?
Our delicious gravy contains just 5 simple ingredients; but they combine to make a low carb gravy which has amazing flavor and texture. If you don’t tell, no one would guess this is a low carb keto gravy. We start our gravy with butter. I used salted butter for my gravy and found the salt level in the gravy to be just right. To our butter we add xanthan gum and garlic powder. Xanthan gum is the thickener for our gravy and garlic powder gives it great flavor. A little xanthan gum goes a long way, and 1 teaspoon thickens this gravy nicely. You can use regular beef broth or beef bone broth for this gravy. The last ingredient we add to our gravy is tamari. Most tamari is gluten free, but I always recommend checking nutrition labels when buying.
Is this gravy difficult to make?
This gravy is incredibly quick and easy to make, but I do have a few tips for making it so yours will turn out perfect! Since this gravy comes together quickly, I measure out all my ingredients ahead of time, so I have them ready to add. You’ll want to first melt your butter in a medium skillet over medium high heat. Then add your garlic powder and xanthan gum and whisk them quickly into the butter until no lumps remain. This is important to ensure your finished gravy will be perfectly smooth. Then add your beef broth and tamari and whisk everything together. At this point, increase your heat to high and bring your mixture to a boil, whisking frequently. Once your gravy comes to a boil, let it boil for a minute and continue to whisk frequently. Your gravy will then be ready to serve!
How can I serve this easy keto brown gravy?
You have some great low carb options for serving this gravy. Although beef gravy is often served with beef, this gravy works well with all kinds of meats. You can also serve this with chicken, pork, seafood, turkey, or even with meats such as elk and venison. Another great way to serve this gravy is with your favorite keto mashed dishes.
