These easy roasted turkey legs are amazingly delicious and are also amazingly easy to make. It takes just 5 minutes of prep time, then your oven does the rest. These legs are a perfect option when you want some flavorful turkey but don’t want to cook a whole turkey.
Let’s talk about our turkey legs!
When we talk about turkey legs, there are a couple of options that come to mind. Some consider turkey legs to be both the thigh and drumstick of the turkey; but for this dish we’re only using the drumstick. Turkey drumsticks are typically larger than chicken drumsticks, but their nutritional values are similar. Turkey legs vary in size, so depending on how large yours are, each leg may actually make 2 servings. Turkey, both white and dark meat, is a great keto food choice as it contains zero carbs and is a good source of protein. The meat on turkey legs is all dark meat. We’re serving our turkey legs with the skin on, which adds a few extra calories and some extra fat, as well as some awesome added flavor!😊Although turkey legs are quite flavorful, we brush a seasoned butter sauce on them to make them even more delicious.
How do I make the butter sauce for this dish?
We make an awesome butter sauce to coat our turkey legs with. It’s quick and easy to make, and it results in amazingly flavorful turkey legs. We start with melted butter. I used salted butter for my sauce, but you could use unsalted if you’d prefer. To our melted butter, we add just a few simple ingredients. We add a combination of garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. If you’d like, you could substitute smoked paprika in place of the regular paprika. Also, if you want to add a little heat to your turkey legs, you could add some cayenne or red pepper flakes. You could also add a few dashes of your favorite hot sauce to add a little extra heat. I used a silicon brush to evenly brush this butter sauce evenly over my turkey legs.
What are some ways I can serve these easy roasted turkey legs?
You have some awesome low carb options for serving these turkey legs! They can be served for lunch, brunch, or dinner. It’s always a great option to start your meal with a keto salad or soup. For salads, a Caesar or wedge salad are two great options. I also love to chop up some iceberg or romaine lettuce and place it in a large serving bowl. Then, in small serving bowls, I set out all my family’s favorite salad toppings. You can serve these legs with any cooked low carb vegetable. Some great options include asparagus, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, green beans, or spinach. We also enjoy roasted radishes and boiled radishes. You can also serve these legs with side salads or with some cauliflower mac and cheese. Cauliflower rice is also an excellent side choice. A couple of our favorites are cilantro lime cauliflower rice and fajita cauliflower rice.
