This homemade keto garlic ketchup is made with fresh tomatoes, onions, and lots of garlic! It has an amazing depth of flavor! Enjoy!
I love making homemade keto condiments and this homemade keto garlic ketchup is a family favorite! We start with fresh tomatoes, onions, and garlic and combine them with an incredibly delicious sauce to make this keto ketchup. I hope you’ll love this keto ketchup as much as we do!
Let’s talk about our tomatoes, onions, and garlic!
I experimented with different combinations of various types of tomatoes before coming up with the ideal combination, and found using Roma and vine ripened tomatoes helps to create the perfect consistency for ketchup. I use 2 pounds of Romas and 1 pound of vine ripened tomatoes. Roma tomatoes, also called plum tomatoes, have a nice sweetness to them and cook down nicely to help thicken our ketchup. The vine ripened tomatoes add awesome flavor and juiciness. The addition of chopped onions also adds amazing flavor to our ketchup. I used a yellow onion for my ketchup, but you can use a white onion if you’d prefer. When I make regular keto ketchup, I add some garlic powder; but since this is a garlicky ketchup, I used garlic cloves. I used 6 large garlic cloves, but you can add even more if you’d like!
Do you have any tips for making this homemade keto garlic ketchup?
This ketchup is extremely easy to make, but I do have some tips for making it! First, since we’re going to blend our ketchup, you can just roughly chop your tomatoes, onions, and garlic cloves. If you want a spicy ketchup, you can also add a diced jalapeno! Next, you’ll simply add all your ingredients to a large stockpot, stir to combine, then bring to a boil over high heat. Allowing the mixture to simmer over medium heat breaks down the tomatoes and allows all the flavors to nicely meld together. At this point you’ll want to allow the mixture to cool slightly, then add it to a blender and blend until it’s smooth. Last, you’ll want to return the ketchup to the stockpot and let it simmer over medium low heat for about an hour. This will allow time for the ketchup to cook down further and thicken perfectly!
What are some ways I can serve this homemade keto garlic ketchup?
You have some awesome low carb options for serving this ketchup! It’s a perfect condiment to serve with burgers, brats, and sausages. You can also serve it with grilled meats, keto sandwiches, and lettuce wraps. I love making homemade keto chicken nuggets, and this ketchup makes for an awesome dipping sauce for them. You can also serve this ketchup with meatloaf, meatballs, or with pulled chicken or pulled pork. I make my own cocktail sauce to serve with seafood, and this ketchup works perfectly for that. You can also serve this ketchup with keto casseroles and with almost any kind of egg dish! Another great way to use this ketchup is to add it to any dish, dressing, glaze, or sauce which calls for ketchup!
