Homemade seasoning mixes come in so handy, and this homemade keto jerk seasoning in one of my new favorites! You can use this mix to make all kinds of dishes including dressings, sauces, meats, and vegetables, just to name a few. You can also control the heat level of this mix to make it as mild or as spicy as you’d like!

Let’s talk about homemade seasoning mixes!
You have some great reasons for making your own seasoning mixes. First, packaged mixes often contain unwanted ingredients and ingredients which aren’t keto. Some common ones include artificial colors and flavors, maltodextrin, msg, preservatives, and sugar. When you make your own mixes, you can avoid these unwanted ingredients. Also if the mix calls for sugar or brown sugar, you can use your favorite keto sugar. Another reason to make your own mixes is that they’re quick and easy to make. You can also make larger batches, so you’ll have them available when you want them. Last, when you make your own seasoning mixes, you can adjust the ingredients and amounts of ingredients to suit your and your family’s taste preferences. You can make your mixes sweeter or spicier, or even saltier if you’d like!

What ingredients go into this homemade keto jerk seasoning?
This seasoning mix contains 16 ingredients but creates a mix with an awesome depth of flavor. We combine keto brown sugar, garlic and onion powder, cayenne pepper, parsley, salt, smoked paprika, thyme, allspice, pepper, cinnamon, cloves, cumin, ginger, nutmeg, and red pepper flakes to make this jerk seasoning. These are pretty common herbs and spices, and you’ll likely have most, if not all, of them stocked in your pantry. For the brown sugar, I used the Swerve brand. It’s a zero calorie and zero net carb sugar that is also incredibly similar in its sweetness level to regular brown sugar. As written, this seasoning mix has a nice kick of heat to it. If you’d like a milder mix, you can decrease or omit the cayenne pepper and red pepper flakes. Alternately, if you want more heat, you can add even more of one or both of them.
