This homemade keto white hot chocolate is absolutely delicious! It comes together quickly on the stovetop so you can make it any time you’d like. It’s also low carb and keto. But if you don’t tell anyone, they’d never guess!
Let’s talk about the ingredients in our homemade keto white hot chocolate!
You’ll be amazed at how a few simple ingredients come together to create such a decadent and comforting drink! We start with a combination of unsweetened almond milk and heavy whipping cream. This makes our hot chocolate incredibly creamy while keeping the carb count down. You can substitute unsweetened coconut milk if you’d like. Just make sure to use the kind from a carton, not the kind from a can. You can use any keto white chocolate chips you’d like. Two of my favorites are those from Lily’s and from the brand Bake Believe. They’re both delicious! They’re also both low carb. A pinch of salt and a little vanilla add awesome flavor and round out our hot chocolate perfectly!
Is this homemade keto white hot chocolate difficult to make?
This hot chocolate is incredibly easy to make, but there are a few things you can do to make sure yours turns out perfectly every time. First, for best results, you’ll want to heat your mixture over medium heat. Next, you’ll want to whisk or stir your mixture frequently while it heats. Your chocolate chips will slowly melt as the mixture heats. You’ll want to heat your hot chocolate until all the chocolate chips are melted and your mixture is hot. But you don’t want to bring the mixture to a boil. We add the vanilla at the end, after removing our hot chocolate from the heat. We do this because if we add it sooner, the vanilla will evaporate, and its taste won’t be nearly as intense. Last, if you’d like, you can top your white hot chocolate with some keto whipping cream!
How do I make homemade keto whipping cream?
It is amazingly easy to make your own keto whipping cream. Once I started making my own, I asked myself why I ever used anything else. It is rich, creamy, and delicious! And, when you make your own, you know exactly what goes into it and you can avoid unwanted ingredients. I recommend chilling your mixing bowl and beaters for 15-20 minutes before using. Then, when chilled, add 1 cup of heavy whipping cream, 2 tablespoons of keto powdered sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla to the bowl. Use an electric mixer and beat until stiff peaks form. This means when you remove the beaters, the whipped cream forms peaks which completely hold their shape. You can easily double this recipe as well. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can even experiment with using different flavored extracts!
