Let’s talk about ranch dressing!
I love ranch dressing and always have! Here’s your quick history lesson for the day. According to the sources I found, in 1949, a man named Steve Henson moved to Alaska and worked in a remote area as a contractor. He also cooked for the crew working there and decided to make a new dressing to keep them happy. It worked! In 1954, he and his wife moved to California and purchased a ranch called Sweetwater Ranch. He renamed it…Hidden Valley Ranch. He started serving his dressing, it was a huge hit, and the rest is history! I used my favorite homemade ranch dressing to make this barbecue ranch dressing. It’s quick and easy to throw together and it’s delicious. If you’d like, you can use your favorite keto ranch dressing. You’ll just want to check nutrition labels to make sure there are no added ingredients you don’t want.
What’s the best barbecue sauce to use for this keto barbecue ranch dressing?
My husband is a big fan of barbecue sauce, so one of the things I knew I had to make was a homemade keto barbecue sauce. My sauce combines tomato paste, water, two kinds of vinegar, butter, lemon juice, liquid smoke, tamari, keto brown sugar, and an awesome combination of spices. It’s a delicious sauce and also easy to make. You simply add everything to a saucepan, bring the sauce to a boil, then turn down the heat and let it simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring it a few times while it simmers. You can also use your favorite keto barbecue sauce. As with the ranch dressing, you’ll want to check the nutrition labels of your barbecue sauce to check the ingredients and the carb count. To our ranch dressing and barbecue sauce, we simply add some smoked paprika. Believe me, you don’t want to leave this out!
How can I serve this keto barbecue ranch dressing?
You have some great ways to serve this dressing. It can actually be served as a dressing, a sauce, or a dip. As a dressing, it works great with any green salad, using your favorite lettuce or spinach and all your favorite toppings. I had some leftover pulled pork and that’s what my daughter added to her salad before topping it with this dressing. As a sauce, it can be added to meats and cooked vegetables. Pulled chicken, pulled pork, and wings are great options. You can also use it as a topping for burgers, keto sandwiches, and lettuce wraps. I can also attest to the fact that it makes the perfect dipping sauce for keto chicken nuggets.
