Keto blueberry blackberry jam is amazingly quick and easy to make. It’s also amazingly sweet and delicious!
You’ll be amazed at how easy it is to make this homemade keto blueberry blackberry jam and at how delicious it is! We combine just 4 simple and delicious ingredients and let them simmer on the stove until thickened. You can leave some of your berries whole or you can smash them to have a smoother jam.
Let’s talk about our berries!
Most berries, when consumed in moderation, are great keto food choices. This is really good news since most fruits are too high in carbs to be included in a keto plan. For this jam, we’re using both blueberries and blackberries. One cup of blackberries contains about 6 net grams of carbs. Blueberries come in quite a bit higher as one cup contains 17-18 net grams of carbs. For comparison one cup of raspberries contains about 7 net grams and one cup of strawberries comes in at 7-8 net grams of carbs. For this jam, we’re using fresh blueberries and fresh blackberries. When they simmer with the other jam ingredients, they naturally break down and release their juices. They also cook down and thicken naturally. This is awesome because we end up with a thick jam without having to add any thickeners!
Do you have any tips for making this keto blueberry blackberry jam?
This is an incredibly easy jam to make, but there are a few things you can do to ensure yours turns out perfectly. First, I like to use fresh berries to make my jam. This helps to ensure the jam won’t be watery but will end up with the perfect consistency. Next, although I usually use the Swerve brand for my keto sugar; for some specific dishes, such as jams, I like to use allulose instead. This is because allulose won’t crystallize when the jam is cooled as other keto sweeteners sometimes do. When you cook your jam, the berries will break down some on their own. You can leave some of the other berries whole or you can use a spoon to smash them which will give you a smoother jam. Last, I like to store my jam in glass jars, but any glass container would also work well.
How can I serve this keto blueberry blackberry jam?
You have some superb low carb options for serving this jam! It’s a fun sweet treat served just as is. You can serve this jam as a topping for keto chaffles or English muffins. It can also be served with keto crackers. For breakfast options, this jam makes a great topping for keto pancakes or waffles. You can also use your favorite keto bread and make an amazingly delicious peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Additionally, this jam can be used to top any number of desserts including keto brownies, cheesecakes, ice cream, and more! I often make my daughter a quick snack by topping a block of softened cream cheese with jam and this jam is perfect for that! Another wonderful idea is to package this jam up in smaller jars and to give it as a delicious and pretty food gift.
