This quick and easy keto breakfast sausage recipe can’t be beat! In about 20 minutes, you can have homemade sausages that will keep your entire family happy and satisfied!
I love making breakfast for breakfast, breakfast for lunch, and breakfast for dinner. There are so many great low carb options for breakfast foods, which is why so many enjoy eating breakfast anytime of the day. I think, for a lot of people, one of the factors that help keep them on track in following a keto diet is having a variety of food choices available. These keto breakfast sausages will make a great addition to your breakfast options.
Can I use a meat other than pork?
Sure! You can use ground beef, turkey, chicken, or even something a bit less common such as ground bison, elk, or venison. Just make sure they are completely cooked as each meat may take a different amount of time to cook. I just pull a sausage out of the pan and cut it in half to check doneness.
Can these sausages be frozen?
These sausages can definitely be frozen. You can easily double or even triple this recipe and freeze the sausage patties. You have a couple of options for freezing.
1. You can freeze the sausage patties raw and then cook them at a later time. Line a baking sheet with parchment or wax paper. Form the sausage into patties and set them (making sure they don’t overlap) onto the paper. Freeze for an hour. Then layer patties with a piece of parchment or wax paper in between each one, and place in a freezer safe bag. Then simply keep in the freezer until ready to use.
2. You can cook the sausage patties and then freeze them. This is how I prefer to do it. I’d rather cook them all up at once and then have a quick option for meals. Cook the sausage patties, then allow them to cool. Once cooled, layer patties with a piece of parchment or wax paper in between each one, and place in a freezer safe bag. Freeze until ready to use. Microwave a couple of patties at a time for 2-3 minutes or until heated through.
Helpful Hints:
*These just have a mild level of heat from the chili powder. If you’d like them spicier, you can add more chili powder or some red pepper flakes.
*I shape these with my hands, but you can use a small hamburger press or a cookie or ice cream scoop.
