These nuts are amazingly delicious and are a special treat that can be enjoyed any time of the year! These candied nuts make for a great snack or appetizer option and can also be a special food gift idea to give to family and friends.
Let’s talk about the ingredients in our candied nuts!
We start with combining both brown and granulated keto sugar to make these delicious nuts. I used the Swerve brand for both my sugars as it contains zero calories and net carbs and is impressively similar in its sweetness level to regular sugar. To our sugar, we add spices which speak to me of winter and Christmas. These include a combination of cinnamon, salt, allspice, cloves, and nutmeg. We beat an egg white with both maple and vanilla extract, and this serves as a coating for our nuts. I used an equal amount of pecans and walnuts for my nut mixture. Alternately, you could use all pecans or all walnuts for your candied nuts. Some other options include using almonds, Brazil nuts, hazel nuts, and macadamia nuts to make these candied nuts.
How do I make these keto Christmas candied nuts?
These nuts are incredibly easy to make, but there are a few things you can do to ensure yours come out perfectly every time. First, you’ll want to combine your sugars and spices in a small bowl and stir to combine them. Next, when you beat your egg white with your extracts, you’ll want to beat until your mixture is nice and frothy. Then when you add your nuts to this mixture, you’ll want to stir them until they’re completely coated in the egg white mixture. This will help to ensure your nuts will be evenly coated in the sugar and spice mixture. You’ll then want to use a large parchment paper lined baking sheet and arrange your nuts in an even single layer. These nuts take a total of 60 minutes to bake, and you’ll want to stir them every 15 minutes or so while they’re baking.
How can I serve these keto Christmas candied nuts?
You have a great variety of ways to serve these candied nuts! They’re a great snack choice any time of the day. And since they don’t need to be refrigerated, you can take them to work or when you travel. These candied nuts are perfectly sweet and salty and make a great appetizer or dessert option. I love making candied nuts for parties and get togethers, and they’re a great choice to bring to barbecues and potlucks as well. If you’re looking for a food gift, these are perfect for that. You can package them in a pretty food gift bag or in a mason jar to make a special homemade treat for family and friends. I love storing my candied nuts in a large mason jar and then just set it out on my kitchen island so people can easily grab a handful whenever they’d like.
