When you want a special tasty treat, this keto drinkable yogurt smoothie will always satisfy. You can use different berries or combinations of berries to make this drink your own. And since it only takes minutes to make, you can enjoy it any time you’d like!
Let’s talk about yogurt!
You can absolutely eat yogurt while following a keto plan, but you’ll need to pick the right yogurt. Without getting too technical, yogurt is basically a dairy product made using the process of fermentation. A little more specifically, yogurt is made by fermenting milk with the addition of a yogurt culture. The process of making yogurt gives it its distinctive creamy texture and its tart flavor. When buying yogurt, you’ll want to check the nutritional information and ingredients to ensure you’re buying low carb yogurt. You’ll want to check the carb count and how many grams of sugar it contains. The sugar should come from naturally occurring sugar from the milk and you’ll want to make sure there is no added sugar. The Two Good brand of yogurt is my go-to yogurt but there are other brands that are low carb and keto as well.
What other ingredients go into this keto drinkable yogurt smoothie?
To our yogurt, we add heavy whipping cream, strawberries, and keto powdered sugar. The heavy whipping cream adds incredible richness to our drink. It’s also what we use to thin out the smoothie a bit to make it drinkable. Heavy whipping cream is an awesome keto choice for this smoothie since it’s rich and thick and relatively low in carbs. I used fresh strawberries to make this smoothie, but you could substitute with frozen if you’d like. I do chop my strawberries before I add them to the blender to help ensure my smoothie will be nice and smooth. For sugar, I used the Swerve brand as it contains zero calories and zero net carbs and is incredibly similar in its sweetness level to regular sugar. You can give your smoothie a taste and add even more keto sugar if you’d like.
Can I substitute any ingredients when making this keto drinkable yogurt smoothie?
You have some great options for substituting ingredients to make different kinds of drinkable yogurt smoothies. I used keto vanilla yogurt, but you could use any flavored keto yogurt or could use plain yogurt if you’d like. You also have some awesome choices for the fruit you use for your smoothie. There aren’t many fruits that are low carb, but most berries are the exception! You can use blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, or a combination of these to make your smoothie. One cup of blackberries contains about 6 net grams of carbs. One cup of raspberries contains about 7 net grams, and one cup of strawberries contains approximately 7-8 net grams of carbs. You can use blueberries, just know one cup comes in at about 17-18 net grams of carbs. If you want to add even more fat to your smoothie, you can toss in some softened and cubed cream cheese.
