When you want a rich and decadent treat, this keto fruity maple cheesecake smoothie is an awesome choice! This sweet treat comes together quickly so you can enjoy it any time you’d like. You can use fresh or frozen berries for this smoothie, and can also top yours with some homemade keto whipped cream if you’d like!
Let’s talk about the ingredients in our keto fruity maple cheesecake smoothie!
For our smoothie, we start with cream cheese, unsweetened almond milk, and heavy whipping cream. These combine to make our smoothie creamy and help to keep it low carb. You can use unsweetened coconut milk if you’d like. You’ll just want to make sure you’re using the coconut milk that comes in a carton and not in a can. I used a combination of raspberries and strawberries for this smoothie; but you could use all raspberries or all strawberries if you’d prefer. For my sugar, I used the Swerve brand. It contains zero calories and zero net carbs. It is also similar in sweetness to regular sugar. We then add maple and orange extract and a pinch of salt to our smoothie. Using extracts gives this smoothie incredible flavor while keeping the carb count down.
Are raspberries and strawberries keto?
There are many fruits that aren’t allowed on a low carb keto plan because their carb count is too high. But many berries, including raspberries and strawberries, are a wonderful keto option. One cup of raspberries contains about 7 net grams of carbs. And one cup of strawberries contains approximately 7-8 net grams of carbs. In comparison, one cup of blackberries contains about 6 net grams of carbs and one cup of blueberries contains 17-18 net grams of carbs. Raspberries and strawberries are both low-calorie foods and provide us with some important nutrients. Raspberries contain folate, iron, magnesium, manganese, potassium, and vitamins C, E, and K. Strawberries contain folate, magnesium, manganese, potassium, and vitamins A and C. Both raspberries and strawberries also contain fiber. For this smoothie, you can use either fresh or frozen berries.
How do I make homemade keto whipped cream to use as a topping for this keto fruity maple cheesecake smoothie?
Once I started making homemade keto whipped cream, I couldn’t believe I ever used anything else. It is incredibly easy to make, and it surpasses any other whipped cream in both flavor and texture. And, when you make your own whipped cream, you’ll know exactly what goes into it and can avoid unwanted ingredients. I recommend first chilling your mixing bowl and beaters in the freezer for 15- 20 minutes before using. Then, to your chilled bowl, you’ll add 1 cup of heavy whipping cream, 2 tablespoons of keto powdered sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla. You’ll want to beat this mixture until still peaks form. Stiff peaks mean when you remove your beaters, the mixture forms peaks which completely hold their shape. You can also easily double this recipe if you’d like.
