This keto gingerbread hot chocolate is Christmas in a mug! Get ready for a rich and decadent treat!
This keto gingerbread hot chocolate is creamy, delicious, and low carb! Coming in at just 4 net grams of carbs per serving, you can enjoy this sweet treat any time you’d like! This is a warm comforting drink that I think you’re going to love!
Let’s talk about the delicious ingredients in this keto gingerbread hot chocolate!
We start this recipe with unsweetened almond milk. This is a great low carb option for milk. You could use unsweetened coconut milk if you’d prefer. Next, we add heavy whipping cream to add to the creaminess of this drink. To make this a gingerbread hot chocolate, we add keto brown sugar, cinnamon, allspice, and ginger. What a lovely combination! For the chocolate, I’ve included both unsweetened cocoa powder and some keto chocolate chips. The chips add to both the flavor and richness of this drink. A pinch of salt and some vanilla round off this drink perfectly!
How did you keep this delicious drink low carb and keto?
There are a few key ingredients which make this drink keto! First, we use unsweetened almond milk and heavy cream in place of milk. I think this combination far surpasses the use of regular milk for taste and richness! Next, I used Swerve brown sugar. This sugar contains zero calories and zero net carbs. It’s also delicious! I used the Rodelle brand of cocoa powder. This is my go-to brand because of the depth of chocolate flavor it brings to any recipe. Last, the use of keto chocolate chips adds zero net carbs and an incredible addition of both flavor and richness.
Let’s talk about optional toppings for this hot chocolate!
This gingerbread hot chocolate is perfect all on its own. But I must tell you that topping it with homemade keto whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon puts this drink over the top. In addition, it makes this drink exceptionally beautiful. Making your own keto whipped cream is quick and easy. If you have time, I suggest putting your mixing bowl and beaters in the freezer for 15-20 minutes before using. Then simply add 1 cup of heavy whipping cream to the bowl with 2 tablespoons of your favorite keto powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon of vanilla. Beat, using an electric mixer, until stiff peaks form. You’ll be amazed at how easy and delicious this whipped cream is! I also like to sprinkle just a touch of cinnamon on top and add a cinnamon stick to this drink. Your family and friends will love these simple extra touches!
