Let’s talk about our green beans!
Green beans are an awesome keto vegetable choice. They’re low in carbs, with one cup containing only about 4 net grams of carbs. Green beans are also a low-calorie food and provide a source of fiber and some important nutrients. One of the great things about this vegetable is the number of ways it can be prepared and the variety of ways it can be incorporated into dishes. Green beans can be boiled, roasted, sauteed, steamed, or grilled. You can also choose to cook them to your desired tenderness level. We like our green beans fork tender, but you can cook yours a little less if you’d like them crisp tender. Green beans make for an awesome side vegetable dish, either prepared simply with butter or salt, or made with more complex sauces. They also make a great addition to casseroles, soups, stews, and stir fry dishes.
How do I make this keto ground beef green bean skillet?
This is a quick and easy dish to make, but there are a few things you can do to ensure yours comes out perfectly. First, I like to start cooking my ground beef, then steam my beans at the same time. You can also boil your beans, just make sure to drain them well. You’ll also want to drain and discard all the fat from your ground beef. For the best and quickest results, I cube my cream cheese and let it soften before adding it to the skillet . We’re not adding any thickeners to this dish, so it’s important to let it simmer for about 5 minutes, which helps it to thicken. Last, I recommend buying a block of cheese and shredding it yourself. This melts the best and you can be assured there are no unwanted added ingredients.
How can I serve this keto ground beef green bean skillet?
You have some great low carb options for serving this dish. It’s a filling dish that can be served as a meal in itself. You can also start your meal with a green salad. A Caesar salad is always an excellent choice. You could serve it with a keto soup as well. Another great choice is to serve this dish with a side of keto biscuits, chaffles, cornbread, or English muffins. If you’d like, you can also add a side of cooked vegetables. Some good low carb options include asparagus, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, and spinach. Boiled radishes or roasted radishes are amazing too! This dish is perfect to serve for a lunch, brunch, or dinner option. It also reheats well, so it’s great for leftovers the next day!
