You can enjoy this keto macadamia berry smoothie for a great breakfast, snack, or even dessert option. This is a rich and fruity smoothie that takes only 10 minutes to make. If you’d like even more decadence, you can top your smoothie with some keto whipped cream!
Let’s talk about macadamia nuts!
Macadamia nuts are an awesome keto nut choice for a variety of reasons. They provide healthy fats to our diet and contain some important nutrients. Macadamias provide us a source of copper, fiber, iron, magnesium, manganese, thiamine, and vitamin B. Macadamia nuts are a great low carb and high fat keto nut option. ¼ cup of macadamia nuts come in at only 2 net grams of carbs and an impressive 21 grams of fat! These delicious nuts have a flavor and texture all their own. They have a mild butter like flavor and a creamy soft texture unlike any other nuts. For this smoothie, if your macadamia nuts are on the salty side, you can rinse them if you’d like. I usually add a pinch of salt to my smoothies, so the salt from the macadamia nuts is a welcomed addition!
What other ingredients go into this keto macadamia berry smoothie?
We use a combination of unsweetened almond milk and heavy whipping cream to create the perfect texture to our smoothie. To this, we add ice, blackberries, strawberries, keto sugar, and vanilla. If you’d like, you could substitute unsweetened coconut milk for the unsweetened almond milk. You’ll just want to make sure you’re using the coconut milk from a carton and not the kind from a can. If you’d like, you can also substitute raspberries in place of either the blackberries or strawberries in this smoothie. I used the Swerve brand sugar for my smoothie. It contains zero calories and zero net carbs. It also tastes amazingly similar to regular sugar!
How do I make homemade keto whipped cream to top these keto macadamia berry smoothies?
Making homemade keto whipped cream is quick and easy and will have you asking why you ever used anything else! For best results, I recommend chilling your mixing bowl and beaters in the freezer for 15-20 minutes before using. Then, to the chilled bowl, add 1 cup of heavy whipping cream, 2 tablespoons of keto powdered sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla. You’ll want to beat your mixture until stiff peaks from. This means when you remove your beaters, the whipped cream forms peaks which completely hold their shape. I find this to have the perfect sweetness. But one of the wonderful things about making your own whipped cream is that you can taste it and add more powdered sugar if you’d like it sweeter! You can also easily double this recipe.
