Keto pepperoni pizza sloppy joes are a fun and amazingly delicious sloppy joe variation! Enjoy!
These keto pepperoni pizza sloppy joes are quick and easy to make, yet they’re incredibly flavorful! I love making special dishes for my family and I like to play around with ingredients to make unique dishes. These sloppy joes came together on a whim since I had some ground beef I needed to cook up and some extra pasta sauce in the refrigerator. I hope you’ll enjoy these sloppy joes as much as my family does!
Let’s talk about sloppy joes!
Sloppy joes are true comfort food for so many! If you grew up eating sloppy joes, you likely have fond memories of them as a favorite childhood meal. It’s unsure where sloppy joes originated, but most agree that traditional sloppy joes combine ground beef with either onions or bell peppers, or a combination of both, and add a tomato based sauce. This makes for a relatively inexpensive meal that is both hearty and satisfying. The Midwest brought us loose meat sandwiches which are similar to sloppy joes but are less sloppy.😊While traditional sloppy joes aren’t low carb, we make ours low carb by adding no sugar added pasta sauce and keto sugar. We do stick to tradition with these sloppy joes in that they’re quite juicy and appropriately sloppy to eat!
What ingredients go into these keto pepperoni pizza sloppy joes?
I used 93% lean ground beef to make these sloppy joes, but you can use a fattier mixture if you’d like. You’ll just want to make sure you drain the grease after cooking your beef. Along with the beef, we add green and red peppers, diced onions, salt, and pepper. To make these sloppy joes saucy and flavorful, we add keto pasta sauce, keto granulated sugar, and Italian seasoning. To this we then add a good amount of chopped pepperoni. Last, you can either serve these sloppy joes just as they are, or you can top them with cheese. For cheese, I recommend topping each sloppy joe with a slice of provolone cheese or with an ounce or so of shredded mozzarella cheese. You can also broil your cheese topped sloppy joes until the cheese is completely melted and slightly browned.
How can I serve these keto pepperoni pizza sloppy joes?
You have some awesome low carb options for serving these sloppy joes. They can be served in a bowl, just as they are. You can also serve them atop some lettuce or spinach which makes for a very pretty presentation. I like to top these sloppy joes with cheese and then broil them until the cheese is melted and nicely browned. If you’d like to make your sloppy joes into a sandwich, you can use keto bread, biscuits, chaffles, or English muffins. Another great option is to make lettuce wraps using this sloppy joe mixture as the filling. You can also serve these sloppy joes with a keto soup or with a side salad or with coleslaw! These sloppy joes also reheat well either in the microwave or in a saucepan or skillet on the stovetop.

*If you top your sloppy joes with shredded cheese, I recommend buying a block of cheese and shredding it yourself.
