This Keto Russian dressing is amazingly creamy and flavorful and takes just 10 minutes to make! Enjoy!
I love making homemade keto salad dressings, and this keto Russian dressing is a family favorite. You can serve this as a dressing or as a dipping sauce. And since it’s so quick and easy to make, you can make it on even your busiest of days!
Let’s talk about keto mayonnaise!
I’ve always been a big fan of mayonnaise. I grew up in a family of mayonnaise lovers and we always had a jar of it in the refrigerator. When I started doing keto, I began checking the nutrition labels on everything I bought. That’s when I noticed that most mayonnaise has ingredients I didn’t want. Some of these include canola and soybean oil, cornstarch, potato starch, and sugar. The good news is that there are brands which are keto and don’t contain any of these ingredients. My go-to store bought mayonnaise is Chosen Foods avocado oil mayonnaise. Whichever mayonnaise you choose, I’d recommend reading the ingredients to ensure there are no added ingredients you don’t want. Another awesome choice is to make homemade keto mayonnaise. It’s incredibly easy to make and results in a creamy and amazingly delicious mayonnaise that you can be assured contains only the ingredients you want!
What other ingredients go into this keto Russian dressing?
To our mayonnaise, we add keto ketchup, white wine vinegar, minced onion, tamari, prepared horseradish, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. When buying ketchup, you’ll want to check the ingredients to make sure there is no added sugar or corn syrup. I like the Primal Kitchen brand of ketchup, and they make a regular and spicy version. You can also use homemade keto ketchup. I used a yellow onion for my dressing, but a white onion would work great too. Tamari adds an amazing depth of flavor to this dressing. For your horseradish, you can use store bought or homemade. Our seasoning combination of smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper round out the flavors of this dressing perfectly. If you’re wondering about the difference between keto thousand island dressing and keto Russian dressing, the main difference is that thousand island dressing adds unsweetened dill relish and keto sugar.
What are some ways I can serve this keto Russian dressing?
You have some great low carb options for serving this dressing! Of course, it’s perfect for all your favorite green salads. I love setting out a big bowl of chopped iceberg or romaine lettuce, then serving it with a variety of toppings that I know my family loves. Some of our favorites include bacon, diced or sliced avocados, diced tomatoes, hard boiled eggs, and shredded cheese. You can easily make your salad into a main dish salad by adding grilled chicken, salmon, or steak. Another great option is to serve this dressing as a dip for raw vegetables. I love keto chicken nuggets and this dressing makes for an amazing dipping sauce for them. You can also use this dressing as a topping for keto burgers, brats, sandwiches, and lettuce wraps. Drizzling a little of this dressing over cooked meats or vegetables will always add a nice zip of flavor!
