You won’t miss the crust when you make this keto sausage and pepperoni crustless pizza! This is an awesome comfort food dish that will always satisfy!
My family loves this keto sausage and pepperoni crustless pizza! It’s an incredibly delicious dish that is true comfort food and it’s also incredibly low in carbs. And this crustless pizza comes together in under 45 minutes, so you can make it on even your busiest of days!
Let’s talk about the meat and vegetables in this dish!
This is a meaty pizza that starts with Italian sausage. Italian sausage is different from regular pork in that it’s seasoned with herbs and spices. You’ll want to check your nutrition labels as some Italian sausage contains corn syrup and dextrose. These will also tend to have higher carb counts. I used mild Italian sausage, but you can use hot Italian sausage if you’d prefer. I used ground sausage, but you can use also use links. If so, you’ll want to remove and discard the casings before cooking. We top our crustless pizza with pepperoni. I used regular pepperoni, which is made from pork and beef; but you could use turkey pepperoni if you’d like. For vegetables, I used red and green peppers and a yellow onion. You can use any color or color combination for your bell peppers. You can also substitute with a red or white onion.
How do I make this keto sausage and pepperoni crustless pizza?
This is an amazingly easy dish to make, but there are a few things you can do so yours will turn out perfectly. After cooking your sausage, you’ll want to drain the grease before spreading the sausage in a pie plate. I reserve a couple of tablespoons of grease to saute my peppers and onions in, then drain again before placing the vegetables over the sausage. You’ll then want to top your sausage and vegetables evenly with your pasta sauce. The next layer is a generous amount of shredded cheese. I used colby jack, but Monterey or mozzarella would work great too. I do recommend buying a block of cheese and shredding it yourself as it melts the best!🧀Then you’ll top your pizza with pepperoni and bake it for 20 minutes. To get an awesome browned top, I like to end with broiling my pizza for a minute or two.
What can I serve with this keto sausage and pepperoni crustless pizza?
This is a great dish to serve for lunch or dinner. It’s also a fun dish to serve for parties. I like to pair this crustless pizza with a green salad and an array of our favorite salad toppings. A Caesar salad is also a great choice. You can also serve this pizza with a keto soup as well. Another great option is to serve this dish with keto bread, biscuits, cornbread, or English muffins. A side of cooked vegetables is also a nice choice to serve alongside this pizza. Wings are always a perfect pairing for pizza. A couple of our favorites are hot wings and salt and vinegar wings! Yum!
