This keto spiced Christmas jam is a wonderful way to welcome in the Christmas season. It combines the perfect balance of sweet and tart flavors.
We combine strawberries and cranberries with an amazingly delicious spice mixture to make this keto spiced Christmas jam. My family absolutely loves this jam! It’s perfect for the holidays and also makes for an awesome food gift. I hope you’ll enjoy this spiced Christmas jam as much as we do!
Let’s talk about the berries in our jam!
When following a low carb keto plan, there are many fruits that aren’t allowed because they’re too high in carbs. The great news is that most berries, when eaten in moderation, are a great keto food choice. For this jam we’re using strawberries and cranberries. I absolutely love the combination flavors they bring, the sweetness from the strawberries and the tartness from the cranberries! Both strawberries and cranberries are low calorie foods and are relatively low in carbs. One cup of strawberries contains approximately 7-8 net grams of carbs, and one cup of cranberries contains about 8 net grams of carbs. I used fresh strawberries and fresh cranberries for my jam. They break down nicely which helps to create the perfect texture for this jam. Also, they don’t completely break down, so you have nice pieces of fruit in this jam.
How do I make this keto spiced Christmas jam?
This jam is incredibly easy to make, but there are a few things you can do to ensure yours will turn out perfectly. First, I recommend using fresh strawberries and fresh cranberries to make this jam. If you use frozen, you may need to cook to jam longer as the water content may be higher. Next, while I usually use the Swerve brand of keto sugar, for jams I use allulose as I know it won’t crystallize it cools. I like to use fresh lemon juice whenever possible, but bottled juice can be used as well. While this jam is cooking, I like to mash it to break down the berries. I do leave some pieces of berries, but you can mash yours to your desired consistency. I find this jam to contain the perfect balance of sweet and tart flavors, but you can add more allulose if you’d like.
What are some ways I can serve this spiced Christmas jam?
You have some awesome low carb options for serving this jam! For breakfast, this jam is a great topping for keto pancakes or waffles. You can also serve it as a topping for keto biscuits, chaffles, cornbread, or English muffins. You can also use your favorite keto bread or chaffles to make an amazing peanut butter and jelly sandwich using this jam. Additionally, you can top keto brownies, cheesecakes, and ice cream with this jam. You can also add this jam to some keto Greet yogurt to make a dessert or snack option. Another fun option is to make an appetizer by topping a block of softened cream cheese with some of this delicious jam. I also like to serve this jam with keto crackers. This jam can also be added to smaller jars and given to friends and family as a food gift.
