Fajitas are such an awesome comfort food dish and these keto steak fajitas will hit the spot every time! These are awesome for everyday meals or for parties, potlucks, and get togethers!
Let’s talk about our homemade fajita seasoning!
I love making my own seasoning mixes, and through some experimentations came up with my ultimate homemade keto fajita seasoning. This is one of my favorite mixes! We combine chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, keto granulated sugar, paprika, onion powder, oregano, salt, cayenne, and black pepper to make our fajita seasoning. This is a fairly mild mixture, but it does get a nice touch of spice from the chili powder and cayenne! One of the great things about making your own spice mixes is that you’ll know exactly what goes into them. You can also avoid the unwanted ingredients which are often added to packaged mixes. Additionally, you can adjust ingredients to your taste preference. For this fajita seasoning, you can add more or less sugar and salt if you’d prefer. You can also add more cayenne if you’d like to add more heat to your seasoning mix!
How do I make these keto steak fajitas?
These fajitas are incredibly easy to make, but there are some things you can do to ensure yours come out perfectly every time. You can use any color or color combination of bell peppers for your fajitas. The traditional meat for steak fajitas is flank or skirt steak, but I’ve found that thinly sliced sirloin steak is perfectly fine to make fajitas. If time allows, after adding the olive oil, lime juice, and fajita seasoning, I like to let the meat and vegetables marinate for 30-60 minutes. You can also pop them in the refrigerator and marinate for 4-8 hours. I saute my meat first. Then I saute the vegetables in the same skillet until they’re tender but still a bit crisp. If I don’t serve my fajitas immediately, I’ll simply cover them and place them in the oven at about 200 degrees to keep warm until ready to serve.
How can I serve these keto steak fajitas?
You have some awesome ways to serve these fajitas! I like to have a variety of toppings set out when I serve mine. Some great options include diced avocados and tomatoes, shredded lettuce and shredded cheese, sliced black olives, and sour cream. A side of guacamole or salsa also makes for a great addition to these fajitas. I’m a salad girl, so I love making a fajita salad with these fajitas; but you can also serve these with keto tortillas if you’d like. For sides, some amazing keto choices include cilantro lime cauliflower rice, fajita cauliflower rice, and Mexican cauliflower rice. You can also serve these fajitas with a green salad or even with a keto soup. These fajitas make for an awesome everyday meal but can also be served for parties and potlucks!
