Once you try this keto thousand island dressing, you’ll never go back to store bought again! This dressing takes just 10 minutes to prepare and is both low carb and delicious!
I love making my own dressings and this keto thousand island dressing is one of my family’s favorites! There are a couple of Reuben lovers in my household and I knew I had to create a low carb version of thousand island dressing to go with their favorite sandwich! I hope you and your family enjoy this as much as we do!
Let’s talk about the ingredients that go into this keto thousand island dressing!
First, we start with keto mayonnaise. My favorite keto mayo is the avocado mayonnaise from Chosen Foods; but you can use any keto mayo you’d like. Next, we add keto ketchup. I chose the Primal Kitchen brand unsweetened ketchup for this dressing. Just read your nutrition labels so you know exactly what ingredients you’re getting in your ketchup.😉I used white wine vinegar for my dressing; but you can use regular white vinegar as well.
I think most people are familiar with sweet pickle relish; but did you know you can buy unsweetened pickle relish? Yep! You can also choose to simply dice some dill pickles and add them to this dressing! I like the added texture that comes with adding some finely diced onion. If you’d like, you could substitute a little onion powder for the diced onion. Swerve makes an awesome zero calorie and zero net carb sugar that is my preference; but you can use any keto granulated sugar of your choice. Garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper are the simple spices added that make this dressing complete!
Why should I make my own thousand island dressing?
That’s a great and important question. Most thousand island dressings contain unwanted ingredients such as sugar, artificial colors, artificial flavors, and oils which make them high carb and not keto. When making your own dressing, you can be assured of exactly what ingredients are going into your dressing and can make sure they’re all keto! Just as an FYI: Nutritional information provided for this recipe was calculated using 2 tablespoons of dressing as one serving.
How can I serve this Keto Thousand Island Salad Dressing?
There are numerous ways you can incorporate this dressing into your favorite meals! First, it is an awesome dressing for your go-to salads! This dressing will add a zip to your favorite side salad or main salad served with grilled chicken or salmon. Next, this dressing makes an awesome dip for veggies to create a pretty appetizer or snack. I would be remiss to exclude serving this dressing as an awesome topping for your favorite sandwich, most notably for an amazing keto Reuben, perhaps made with 90 second keto English muffins!
