You’ll take your tuna to the next level when you make this keto tuna avocado salad. It contains the perfect combination of creamy and crunchy elements and it’s amazingly flavorful. This salad comes together in just minutes, so you can enjoy it any time you’d like!
Let’s talk about our salad ingredients!
Did you grow up eating tuna salad and tuna casseroles? Ha! I sure did and I still do! Tuna is a great source of protein and can quickly be made into some delicious dishes. You can use regular or albacore tuna for this salad. Albacore tuna is a bit firmer in texture and also milder tasting than regular tuna. Since we’re adding a creamy dressing to this salad, I recommend using tuna packed in water and not in oil. For a little crunch, we add both diced celery and onion. Fresh parsley adds flavor, texture, and color to this salad. The addition of avocado to this salad really takes it over the top in both taste and creaminess. I roughly diced my avocado, but you could lightly mash yours if you’d prefer.
How do I make the dressing for this keto tuna avocado salad?
The dressing for this salad comes together quickly with just a few ingredients, but it’s amazingly creamy and flavorful. We combine both keto mayonnaise and sour cream to make this dressing. I used the Chosen Foods brand avocado oil mayonnaise for my dressing. When buying mayo, you’ll want to make sure there is no added sugar or oils that you don’t want. A little lemon juice really brightens up this dressing. I used fresh lemon juice, but you can use bottled as well. Our salad ingredients have such amazing flavor, for seasoning we just add garlic powder, salt, and pepper. This dressing couldn’t be much easier to make. You simply add all the dressing ingredients to a small bowl, then stir or whisk to combine them! You can give your finished salad a taste and add more salt and pepper if you’d like.
What are some ways I can serve this keto tuna avocado salad?
It’s a great option for lunch, brunch, dinner, or even for a delicious snack. This salad is great served just as it is in a bowl. You can also serve it as a dip and can use cheese whisps, keto crackers, or raw veggies as dippers. Some great raw vegetable choices include broccoli, cauliflower, celery, cucumbers, or sliced bell peppers or radishes. You can also serve this tuna salad as the delicious filling for lettuce wraps. I like to serve mine atop some lettuce with some fresh sliced tomatoes or with dill pickles! A fun option is to cut additional avocados in half, remove the pits, then fill the avocados with tuna salad. Yum! You also have some wonderful choices for serving this tuna salad as a sandwich. You can use keto bread, biscuits, chaffles, or English muffins.
