These keto turkey club skewers are an amazingly fun and delicious appetizer! They’ll be a huge hit every time you serve them!
When you want an awesomely delicious and adorable appetizer, these keto turkey club skewers are the perfect choice! We use chaffles in place of bread to keep these keto and low in carbs. Then we add all the traditional elements of a turkey club sandwich to make these skewers. You can serve these just as they are or can drizzle them with some ranch dressing or serve them with a side of mayonnaise.
Let’s talk about our chaffles!
If you’ve never tried chaffles, you’re in for a real treat. The word chaffle simply means cheese waffle. To make basic chaffles, you only need two ingredients, eggs and shredded mozzarella cheese. But I’ve experimented with ingredients and add some almond flour and baking powder to the eggs and cheese to make my favorite chaffles, which hold up a bit better than basic chaffles. These are my go-to chaffles, so I aptly named them mom’s favorite chaffles! The best way to make chaffles is by using a mini waffle maker. The Dash brand is my favorite. Dash also makes a multi mini waffle maker and that’s what I used to make the chaffles for this appetizer. I love to have chaffles available for all kinds of dishes, so I’ll often make a bunch and refrigerate them until I’m ready to use them.
What other ingredients go into these keto turkey club skewers?
Along with our chaffles, we add just a few simple but amazingly delicious ingredients to make these skewers. I used iceberg lettuce, but you can use romaine lettuce if you’d prefer. For the tomatoes, I used cherry tomatoes, but you could also use grape tomatoes. If you want an easy way to remember the difference, cherry tomatoes are round like cherries, and grape tomatoes are oval shaped like grapes. I used thick cut bacon for my skewers as it’s easier to thread them onto the skewers. For cheese, you can use mild, medium, or sharp cheddar. You can also use colby, colby jack, Monterey jack, or even Swiss cheese if you’d prefer. To add a little kick of spice, you can also use pepper jack cheese. For the turkey, I like to use sliced deli meat with no added sugar. You can use your favorite deli turkey for your skewers.
How do I make these keto turkey club skewers?
It’s incredibly easy to make these skewers. It’s also a lot of fun! For ease of making these skewers, I recommend lining up your ingredients in the order you’ll be using them. To each skewer, you’ll start with a piece of chaffle. Then you’ll add a piece of lettuce, a cherry tomato, a piece of bacon, a piece of cheese, and a piece of turkey. For the best results, you’ll want to fold your turkey in half, then in half again before adding it to your skewer. Then you’ll add another piece of lettuce, a cherry tomato, a piece of bacon, a piece of cheese, a piece of folded turkey and a piece of chaffle to complete your skewer. You’ll repeat this process to make the rest of your skewers. You can drizzle some keto ranch dressing over your skewers, or can serve them with a side of mayonnaise.
