Let’s talk about our homemade taco seasoning mix!
I love making homemade seasoning mixes, and this taco seasoning mix is one I make and use often. You have some great reasons for making your own seasoning mixes. First, when you make your own, you can avoid unwanted ingredients often added to packaged mixes. Some of these include artificial colors and flavors, maltodextrin, msg, preservatives, and sugar. If the mix does call for sugar, you can substitute with keto sugar. Next, it’s quick and easy to make your own mixes, and you can make large batches so you’ll always have some on hand. One of the best reasons for making homemade seasoning mixes is that you can adjust ingredients and amounts of ingredients for your personal taste preferences and the taste preferences of your family. To make this mix, we combine chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, paprika, salt, onion powder, pepper, and oregano.

What other ingredients go into this low carb layered taco dip?
We create some amazingly delicious layers for this dip. For our first layer, to keep our dish low in carbs, we use black soy beans. You can use a blender or food processor to achieve a similar consistency to traditional refried beans. We add ½ our taco seasoning to our beans. Our second layer is cooked and cooled ground beef. Next, we combine cream cheese, sour cream, and our remaining taco seasoning to create an incredibly creamy and delicious layer. You can use a spoon or spatula to spread this layer over the ground beef. We then top our dip with a layer of shredded cheese. For your cheese, I highly recommend buying a block of cheese and shredding it yourself. Our next layer is chopped or shredded lettuce, which brings freshness and a nice crunch to our dish. We finish with diced tomatoes and diced green onions.

What are some ways I can serve this low carb layered taco dip?
You have some awesome options for serving this dip. Don’t ask me how I know, but it’s extremely tasty as is from a bowl. To serve as a traditional dip, you have some great low carb options for what you use as dippers. You can use your favorite keto crackers or keto chips. You can also use low carb veggies as dippers. Some good choices include broccoli, cauliflower, cucumbers, mushrooms, radishes, and sliced bell peppers. Although a little higher in carbs, when used in moderation, carrots are also a good choice.
