Let’s talk about our homemade ranch seasoning mix!
I enjoy making homemade seasoning mixes and ranch seasoning is one of our family favorites. I use it to make homemade ranch dressing, but it’s perfect for any dish calling for ranch seasoning. You have some great reasons for making your own seasoning mixes. One of the main reasons is that packaged mixes often add unwanted ingredients such as artificial colors and flavors, maltodextrin, msg, preservatives, and sugar. It’s also quick and easy to make your own and it will save you some money. For our ranch seasoning mix, we combine parsley, garlic powder, onion powder, chives, dill, salt, and pepper. All of our herbs and spices are dried, so you likely have all of them in your pantry! You can make this seasoning mix as is or can make a larger batch if you’d like. You can also customize the amount of herbs and spices for your taste preferences.
How do I make these Parmesan ranch chicken thighs?
To ensure our chicken doesn’t stick to the baking dish, we start by spraying the dish with oil. I used avocado oil spray. Coconut or olive oil spray are a couple of other great choices. For the chicken, I used bone-in skin on chicken thighs. These come out incredibly moist with beautifully browned skin. You can use different kinds of chicken pieces or can use a whole cut up chicken if you’d like. Whichever you use, you’ll want to bake them until they reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees. To get the crispiest skin, you’ll want to place your chicken skin side up in the dish and brush it with melted butter. I used salted butter, but you can use unsalted if you’d like. For our coating, we add fresh grated Parmesan cheese to our homemade ranch seasoning. Then we simply sprinkle this mixture evenly over the chicken.
