I’m always looking for new ways to spruce up roasts, and this ranch seasoned pork roast was a huge hit at my house! This roast is perfect for Sunday dinners or any time you’d like an incredibly special and delicious meal! I hope you and your family will enjoy this roast as much as we do!
Let’s talk about our ranch seasoning mix!
I love making my own seasoning mixes and ranch seasoning is one of my favorites. I use this mix to make homemade ranch dressing and all kinds of dishes calling for ranch dressing mix. One of the best reasons for making your own ranch seasoning mix is that you can avoid unwanted ingredients that are often added to mixes. Some of the most common of these include artificial colors, artificial flavors, maltodextrin, msg, preservatives, and sugar. It’s also a great money saver to make your own seasoning mixes. To make this seasoning mix, we combine parsley, garlic powder, onion powder, chives, dill, salt, and pepper. All of the herbs and spices we are using are dried, so you likely have all of them in your pantry!
What kinds of roast can I use to make this ranch seasoned pork roast?
For this dish, I used a bone-in pork shoulder roast. It’s one of my favorite cuts of pork to make oven baked roasts and to make pulled pork. This roast is a nicely marbled cut of pork that comes out amazingly juicy. It’s also often a less expensive option, but when prepared correctly, it’s incredible delicious. To create the most tender roast, this cut is best suited to a longer cooking time or cooked low and slow in a crockpot. You can use a boneless pork shoulder roast if you’d prefer. This cut will take less time to roast. When cooking your roast, you’ll want to cook it fat side up. While the roast is cooking, the fat will cook which works to continuously baste the roast helping to make it juicy and delicious. I cook this roast until it reaches 185 degrees which creates the most tender roast!
What are some low carb options for serving this ranch seasoned pork roast?
You have some great low carb options for serving this dish! You can serve it with a green salad, perhaps a Caesar salad or a wedge salad. I love cutting up iceberg or romaine lettuce, then serving it with our favorite salad toppings. Some of these include diced tomatoes, fried and crumbled bacon, hard boiled eggs, shredded cheese, and sliced avocadoes. Another wonderful option is to serve this roast with a side of cooked vegetables. Your best low carb options include asparagus, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, cabbage dishes, green beans, and spinach. We also love boiled radishes and roasted radishes. You can also serve this roast with a side of keto biscuits, chaffles, cornbread, or English muffins. If you’d like to serve your roast with a mashed dish. A couple of our favorites include mashed kohlrabi and mashed turnips with rutabagas.
