I made this sausage and peppers dish and my family loved it and came back for seconds! This meal comes together quickly and is incredibly delicious and filling! Enjoy!
With just a few ingredients and in just 20 minutes, you can have an awesome meal of sausage and peppers on the table! We combine fresh ingredients and make this dish using just one skillet. This is going to be one of my new go-to quick dinner choices! I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
What kind of sausage should I use for this sausage and peppers dish?
I used a low carb kielbasa for my sausage. You’ll want to check the nutrition label on your sausage because the carb count can vary quite a bit depending on how the sausage is prepared and what is added to it. My kielbasa contained one net gram of carbs per serving. You could use any cooked beef, chicken, or pork sausage for your dish. For a fun change, you could also use elk or venison.
What other ingredients are in this dish?
I love to saute in an equal amount of butter and olive oil and that is what I used to saute my peppers and onion. I used a green and red pepper, but you can use any color pepper or combination of peppers for your dish. For the onion, I used a yellow onion. If you’d like, you can use a red or white onion. The jalapeno in this dish adds just a touch of heat. If you want more, you can either add more jalapenos or you can add some of the seeds from your jalapeno. Just a little garlic is all that’s needed to add great flavor to this dish. I love the addition of fresh parsley for the color and flavor it brings. And last, but certainly not least, the addition of fresh lime juice gives this dish a zest that tops it off perfectly!
What can I serve with my sausage and peppers?
This dish is hearty and makes for a meal in itself! If you’d like, you could add a nice green salad. I think a Caesar salad would be a great choice. You could pair this dish with a keto soup as well. If you have a favorite keto bread, you could make a sausage and peppers sandwich. You could also serve this with some keto biscuits, cornbread, or English muffins. If you’d like, you could also add a side of vegetables. I served mine over cauliflower rice and it was awesome!
Here are some quick and easy keto mousse desserts that would be a perfect ending to this meal!
