Let’s talk about chili!
If you ask ten people what exactly constitutes chili, you’ll probably get ten different answers. The written definition of chili usually describes it as a hearty stew containing a wide variety of ingredients. That leaves us plenty to work with! Chili can be made with any kind of ground meat. It can also be made with bacon, chicken, steak, venison, or even seafood. It can also be made vegetarian. Chili can be made with or without beans. There is also a wide variety of sauces you can use for chili. Many chili recipes call for a red sauce; but some are made with a green or white sauce. A fun thing about chili is you can make it anywhere from mild to extra hot depending on your spice preference. I think the common thing about all chili is that it is true comfort food!😊
How can I adjust the spice level in this smoky keto chili?
I consider this chili to be mild to medium in its spice level. If you’d like your chili even milder, you can decrease the amount of chili powder you add. You have some awesome options for increasing the spice level in your chili. You can add more chili powder or add some cayenne pepper or even red pepper flakes to make your chili hotter. Another way to up the spice level is to add some diced hot peppers. Some good pepper options include Anaheim, jalapeno, Fresno, poblano, serrano, or habanero peppers. Each has a different heat level, so you can choose accordingly to get just the right amount of heat for your chili. A good thing to know about peppers is that most of the heat is found in the seeds and membranes, so you can remove these if you want a milder option.
How can I serve this smoky keto chili?
You have some great keto options for serving this chili. It is a filling dish and can easily be served as it. If you’d like, you can top your chili with some diced onions, shredded cheese, or sour cream. If you want some extra heat, you could also top it with some sliced jalapenos.
